[Kernel-packages] [Bug 2034477] Re: Keyboard and Touchpad Not Working in New Lenovo V15 Gen4 Laptop
Hi Quinten! If you could explain how to do it and what to do to get it done. I would not mind to try, but never did such thing before. In the discussions everybody is talking about it like others are on the same level, but some of us should start from scratch. So if you can describe: 1. What tools are needed? 2. What source files needed? 3. What to be changed? 4. How to compile? 5. What should we do with the result of compile? Thanks Endre -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux-signed in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2034477 Title: Keyboard and Touchpad Not Working in New Lenovo V15 Gen4 Laptop Status in linux-signed package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in linux-signed-hwe-6.2 package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in Fedora: New Bug description: Hello. The keyboard and touchpad work fine in BIOS setup and till GRUB (command line). It was found that when external devices such as keyboard, mouse and microphone are connected through USB and 3.5 jack, respectively, these work just fine. To confirm these are not hardware problems, Microsoft Windows 11 (Home) was installed in another disk partition and observed all these working alright. However, this is not able to happen because the disks (with swap) are suspended first. It appears that the solution is likely to dump the VRAM contents during the "pre-suspend" hook. Incidentally the bug appear to date back to at least 2010: but VRAM was a lot smaller compared to system RAM back then. I got the same errors: but was able to resume from suspend for some reason. I *suspect* it is because I am using the Rocm GPU drivers. ** Bug watch added: gitlab.freedesktop.org/drm/amd/-/issues #2362 https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/drm/amd/-/issues/2362 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2033327 Title: Desktop cannot resume after suspend: screen not detected Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: Hardware: - Desktop PC (Intel i5 4th gen) - GPU: AMD RX580 - Ubuntu 22.04 with kernel HWE 6.2 Steps to reproduce: 1. The main kernel and pretty much every kernel apart from linux-kvm, has CONFIG_PWM=y. * The problem was caught when lunar:linux-kvm was cranked and build failed with the following error: ``` In file included from /build/lunar/drivers/acpi/acpi_lpss.c:23: /build/lunar/include/linux/pwm.h:486:19: error: redefinition of 'devm_pwmchip_add' 486 | static inline int devm_pwmchip_add(struct device *dev, struct pwm_chip *chip) | ^~~~ /build/lunar/include/linux/pwm.h:481:19: note: previous definition of 'devm_pwmchip_add' with type 'int(struct device *, struct pwm_chip *)' 481 | static inline int devm_pwmchip_add(struct device *dev, struct pwm_chip *chip) | ^~~~ ``` [Fix] * Revert the commit. * Because this affects only linux:kvm, it is necessary to apply this fix for lunar:linux-kvm for cycle 2023.10.02, but the main kernel can wait for the next cycle. [Test plan] * Since linux-kvm was the only kernel that had this issue, I applied the patch to kvm after I rebased the latest changes from the parent and did a build test. * I also did a build test for linux:main just to make sure [Where problems could occur] * This change is pretty non-invasive, so nowhere To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/2039542/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~kernel-packages Post to : kernel-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~kernel-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 2036742] Re: amdgpu crash on Mantic
To explain some of the differences in the logs: * UVD is the IP block that fails to init (so no "UVD and UVD ENC initialized successfully"). * Once an IP block fails, next one isn't even tried (so no "VCE initialized successfully") * kfd doesn't initialize because amdgpu_amdkfd_device_init() won't be called until end of hw_init (all blocks must succeed) Between 5.13.19 and 5.14-rc2 there aren't any UVD changes that would cause this. $ git log --oneline v5.13.19..v5.14-rc2 amdgpu/amdgpu_uvd.c amdgpu/uvd_v6_0.c 09b020bb05a5 Merge tag 'drm-misc-next-2021-06-09' of git://anongit.freedesktop.org/drm/drm-misc into drm-next d3fae3b3daac dma-buf: drop the _rcu postfix on function names v3 5745d647d556 Merge tag 'amd-drm-next-5.14-2021-06-02' of https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/agd5f/linux into drm-next 66c46621c812 amdgpu: remove unreachable code ae4c0d7674a7 drm/amdgpu: make sure we unpin the UVD BO f89f8c6bafd0 drm/amdgpu: Guard against write accesses after device removal 355b60296143 Merge drm/drm-next into drm-misc-next This tells me it's probably something outside of the direct code causing it. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 2034477] Re: Keyboard and Touchpad Not Working in New Lenovo V15 Gen4 Laptop
Hey guys, how would one go ahead and get the patch into a current kernel? i'm willing to test it out and play with it for a while since i also have one of those lenovo ideapad lovechilds... for now a wireless keyboard with integrated touchpad will do, but i'm really stoked to see this issue resolved. i got this from the mint forums, setting up pci=nocrs in grub default, but that doesn't fix the keyboard/trackpad issues instead it breaks the realtek wifi driver. I've also noticed that indeed the F5/6 keys to change brightness work and the flight mode key. Really stoked to see this bug being squashed =D -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux-signed in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2034477 Title: Keyboard and Touchpad Not Working in New Lenovo V15 Gen4 Laptop Status in linux-signed package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in linux-signed-hwe-6.2 package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in Fedora: New Bug description: Hello. Same issue here since 12 Oct 2023 on the same machine. Thanks for this. Downgrading the Kernel version also worked, though I just followed the steps here under "7. Change or Set Default Kernel Version" https://linux.how2shout.com/how-to-change-default-kernel-in- ubuntu-22-04-20-04-lts/ to select the version upon boot as 6.0.0-1021-oem was still installed. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux-signed-oem-6.1 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2039858 Title: Wireless not working on Dell XPS 9320 1360P (Intel 6E AX211 Wireless card) with kernel version 6.1.0-1023-oem on Ubuntu 22.04 Status in linux-signed-oem-6.1 package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: Posting here since there are barely any reports on this issue except this Intel community forum ticket. https://community.intel.com/t5/Wireless/Wifi-is-not-working-on- ubuntu/m-p/1532192/thread-id/50189 In recent days (Oct 16 2023) wireless suddenly stopped working and the "wireless adapter not found" message is printed in Ubuntu's Wireless settings.
