[Kernel-packages] [Bug 569841] Re: wireless network has problem connecting and sometimes disconnect

2020-11-01 Thread Adam Kessel
I'm experiencing the same behavior with Ubuntu 20.04 on an older laptop
with a Dell/Broadcom BCM43228 NIC. Kernel is 5.4.0-52-generic. Below is
an example from syslog. Periodically the WiFi just stops working and
takes a long while to resume again. Anyone have any tips from
troubleshooting/fixing??

Title:
wireless network has problem connecting and sometimes disconnect

Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Released

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: network-manager

Lenovo T60 with an Intel wireless card.

Wireless worked flawlessly in 9.04 and 9.10. My other computers still
running 9.10 don't have any problem on the same wireless routes.

Just upgraded to 10.4 beta and often runs into these two problems.

  1) after resuming from suspend, it cannot connect. Looking at
  daemon.log I see:

NetworkManager: (wlan0): supplicant connection state: 4-way
handshake -> associated
aristotle wpa_supplicant[1055]: WPA: Could not verify EAPOL-Key MIC -
dropping packet
aristotle avahi-daemon[911]: Registering new address record for
fe80::21c:bfff:fe08:704a on wlan0.*.
aristotle wpa_supplicant[1055]: WPA: Could not verify EAPOL-Key MIC -
dropping packet
aristotle wpa_supplicant[1055]: WPA: Could not verify EAPOL-Key MIC -
dropping packet

  2) sometimes it just disconnect. This seems to be related to traffic,
it only happens when streaming video from the net (youtube, vimeo,
etc...). Doing a tail -f on daemon.log, this appears at the exact time
  that I loose my connection:

  wpa_supplicant[1055]: CTRL-EVENT-DISCONNECTED - Disconnect event -
  remove keys

No luck with 4.19.2 either -- kernel panic (recovery mode or normal

I have a fresh install of 18.10 on an old Thinkpad x220. Everything
works fine with the internal display or an external Dell G2410

  minutes--it never "settles down".

I've tried the default configuration as well as copying xorg.conf from
  /usr/share/doc/xserver-xorg-video-intel into /etc/x11. I've tried both
xorg configurations with nomodeset in the bootloader and without. I
have not been able to find any configuration that allows this external

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1802573] Re: Thinkpad x220 - Unable to use 2560x1440 external display connected via DisplayPort due flashing black screen

2018-11-19 Thread Adam Kessel
I installed vmlinuz-4.20.0-042000rc3-generic per your request. The
machine won't boot, and just loops infinitely with the error message:

request_module: kmod_concurrent_max (0) close to 0 (max_modprobes: 50), for
module binfmt-646c, throttling...
request_module: modprobe binfmt-646c cannot be processed, kmod busy with 50
threads for more than 5 seconds now

I've done some googling and don't see an obvious fix. Any suggestions?

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1802573] Re: Thinkpad x220 - Unable to use 2560x1440 external display connected via DisplayPort due flashing black screen

2018-11-19 Thread Adam Kessel
This machine is a fresh install so there have been no updates/upgrades.
The initial install was 18.10 and whatever kernel came by default with
that. I will test with the latest upstream kernel and report back.
