[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1584235] [NEW] bcmwl 6.30.223.141/248/271 hardlock on ubuntu 16.04

2016-05-20 Thread Adwin
Public bug reported:

The bcmwl 6.30.223.141/248/271 driver versions (both vanilla & ubuntu-
patched up to .248) hardlock the system (freeze) on vanilla kernel
4.6.0.

Reproducibility: always
The freeze seems to be faster with increased network usage (can happen within
minutes of a fresh boot).

bcmwl-kernel-source works fine on the 4.4.0-22 ubuntu kernel though.
Didn't test on 4.4 vanilla or 4.5.

** Affects: bcmwl (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1582918] Re: Failed to build bcmwl-package for kernel 4.6.0-gnu

2016-05-20 Thread Adwin
@epic456
I compiled a monolithic 4.6 kernel build using vanilla sources.
The bcmwl driver builds properly using dkms.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1528007] Re: bcmwl driver locks up system

2016-05-20 Thread Adwin
I have the same issue with kernel 4.6 (vanilla) & the all 6.3 versions of the
bcmwl driver.
The 248 driver paired with the 4.4.8 ubuntu kernel seems to be working fine for
now.

6.30.223.248 (r487574)

I sometimes see weird lockup in the kernel:
   1778.501345] WARNING: CPU: 3 PID: 6455 at
/build/linux-jHWiKd/linux-3.13.0/kernel/watchdog.c:24

[ 1778.501347] Watchdog detected hard LOCKUP on cpu 3

This happens with kernel 3.19 *and* kernel 4.2. Unloading the `wl`
module makes the system more stable, so it's def. this module.
