Here are some things I tried - deleting and reinstalling NVIDIA driver with 'purge, autoremove, apt install' - Installing different driver version(525, 535, 545) - trying boot-repair program - disabling nouveau by modifying /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf - 'nomodeset' by modifying /etc/default/grub (made it worse.. all boot fails) - tried various kernel version with various Ubuntu version (my laptop is very new device so 20.04 had issues with touchpad, wifi, etc, therefore I mainly tried 22.04) However none of them seemed to resolve the problem I am facing. It showed different symptoms time-to-time but mostly all of them were boot-related. I am using a dualboot with windows I am kind of lost and kindly ask for help. However, while with these commits have been pulled via stable kernel fixes, the driver begins to request new firmware blobs of a different filename. [Other Info] The kernel driver commits are in v6.4-rc1, backported to v6.3.4, v6.1.31, and partially (missing da9a8dc33da2, 616843d5a11b) v6.2.16. Only linux/lunar has to be fixed. I tried upgrading from 17.04, the new kernel 4.13 kernel failed to boot but the 4.10 kernel still did. 17.10 could run on kernel 4.10. 2. Then I tried doing a fresh installation of 17.10. The same result. I cannot get the log in text since it's early stage. I attached a screen shot of kernel log. I think the kernel version is linux- image-4.13.0-16-generic_4.13.0-16.19_amd64.deb To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1730305/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~kernel-packages Post to : kernel-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~kernel-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1711096] Re: dma-buf: performance issue when looking up the fence status
** Description changed: SRU Request: [Impact] When a timeout of zero is specified, the caller is only interested in the fence status. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 227359] Re: suddenly keyboard event recognition gets really slow after multiple suspend/resumes
I am a semi-newbie. I get the problem of keys being echoed to the screen many seconds after I type them. I am running on a 32 bit machine at 2.6 GHz processor and 4 GB ram. This is with Ubuntu 16.04 and with all the updates as of 3/30/2017. This is a real problem and is not related to any of the so called solutions I see posted. I set swappiness = 10 . Has anyone found a real solution to this problem? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/227359 Title: suddenly keyboard event recognition gets really slow after multiple suspend/resumes Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Invalid Bug description: Binary package hint: xorg If I use Xorg for some time (I mean over suspend & resumes, after several hours), suddenly the keyboard gets unusable. I.e. I have to press a key for 2 seconds or more to get an keyboard event under Xorg - and then it is duplicated. But if I press it less then 2 seconds, then I don't get any event at all. The problem shows with Kde unter Xorg with Hardy. Under Gutsy I had the same problem. The problem occurs both with the internal and an external usb keyboard. As workaround I log out (via mouse which works fine) - and restart the X-Server. The new X-Server works fine then for some time, until the problem occurs again. I have no problems with keys which are 'stuck' or something like that. I take that back. It is not fixed, but it does appear much less. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1335750] Re: [Lenovo ThinkPad X131e] Bluetooth can't load firmware after wakeup
A new kernel (3.16.0-031600rc3-generic) does make a difference. Bluetooth now works again after wakeup, but still complains about firmware that can't be loaded. (On an slightly related note. The bluetooth card is a combo wifi/bluetooth, and the new kernel does not support the wifi due to the missing nonfree 'wl' module. DKSM bcmwl-6.30.223.141+bdcom could not be built.)
