Update: after rebooting today the touchpad worked for a few minutes.
Then, in the middle of using FIREFOX, the pointer got stuck. I was

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1675390] Re: touchpad stops responding erratically

2017-04-06 Thread Amnon Yekutieli
Hello,

There were no recent proposals for a fix.

I am now using a mouse, because the tochpad "decided" to quit responding. This
is quite annoying!

Any prospect of a solution?

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1675390] Re: touchpad stops responding erratically

2017-03-26 Thread Amnon Yekutieli
The bug continues after kernel upgrade. Perhaps in lesser frequency.

Just now, after some OKULAR work, the pointer got stuck. Closing the lid
(that puts the computer into suspend mode) and then opening again
repairs the pointer motion.

Does that indicate that some buffer needs to be cleared, or some loop
must stop looping?

(Right now I am using the extenal mouse.)

Isn't there any diagnostic procedure that can help determine the
problem?

1. The computer is Dell XPS 13 (what I wrote was a typo of course).

2. Do you recommend upgrading to Ubuntu 17.04 ? It has kernel 4.10.

Bug description:
Hardware: Dell XPW 13 2016 model no. 9360
  Touchpad DLL075B:01 06CB:76AF Touchpad
  OS KUBUNTU

  Description:

  - The tochpad works ok for a while, then after some time it stops responding
to finger input.
  - There seems to be a correlation bwetween the touchpad failure and a running
a heavy program, like LIBREOFFICE.
  - Plugging in an extenral mouse is a solution (of sorts).
  - After a while the touchapd resumea normal activity.
