[Kernel-packages] [Bug 2040106] Re: Intel wifi and bluetooth firmware broken after upgrade to Ubuntu 23.10
I had the same problem and I was able to fix this on my machine using guidelines from @joepadmiraal - thank you! Here are the steps I followed: 1. I went to to https://cdn.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/firmware/ and downloaded https://cdn.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/firmware/linux- firmware-20230804.tar.gz file into /home/andrzej/Downloads. 2. I unpacked the downloaded file into /home/andrzej/Downloads/linux- firmware-20230804 tar zxvf ./linux-firmware-20230804.tar.gz 3. I created a backup directory /home/andrzej/lib-firmware-backup. mkdir /home/andrzej/lib-firmware-backup 4. I backed up Wi-Fi firmware files. sudo mv /lib/firmware/iwlwifi-* /home/andrzej/lib-firmware-backup 5. I copied Wi-Fi firmware files from downloaded archive into /lib/firmware. sudo cp /home/andrzej/Downloads/linux-firmware-20230804/iwlwifi-* /lib/firmware Note that the files in /lib/firmware are compressed (they have *.zst extension), and the files the downloaded archive are not compressed. This is not a problem; I just put uncompressed files in /lib/firmware and things worked fine. 6. I backed up Bluetooth firmware files. sudo mv /lib/firmware/intel/ibt-* /home/andrzej/lib-firmware- backup/intel 7. I copied Bluetooth firmware files from downloaded archive into /lib/firmware. sudo cp /home/andrzej/Downloads/linux-firmware-20230804/intel/ibt-* /lib/firmware/intel After restarting the machine, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are back. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux-firmware in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2040106 Title: Intel wifi and bluetooth firmware broken after upgrade to Ubuntu 23.10 Status in linux-firmware package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: After upgrading from Ubuntu 23.04 to 23.10 on a Dell Precision 5560, wifi and bluetooth did not work anymore. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1992517] Re: rtw88_8822ce: unable to ping anything, "failed to write TX skb to HCI" and "failed to pusk skb, ret -28" in dmesg
After some more testing, I don't think these parameters matter. Reloading the module (i.e. removing and inserting it again) sometimes fixes the issue for some time, that's why I thought these settings fixed the issue, but the behaviour after module reload is independent of these parameters. I have also narrowed down the last working kernel version to 5.18, not 5.16. Another bug seems to be introduced in 5.17 ("failed to get tx report from firmware", "timed out to flush queue 0", "imed out to flush pci tx ring[1]" in dmesg, intermittent failures to send packets) that confounded me. I am currently bisecting commits between 5.18 and 5.19 to find the one that causes the issue in this bug report. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1992517 Title: rtw88_8822ce: unable to ping anything, "failed to write TX skb to HCI" and "failed to pusk skb, ret -28" in dmesg Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: I am able to associate with a SSID and receive an IP address, but when trying to ping anything, the ping fails and I get repeated messages in the syslog: Oct 11 22:32:29 Brutus kernel: [51072.191588] rtw_8822ce :03:00.0: failed to pusk skb, ret -28 Oct 11 22:32:30 Brutus kernel: [51073.215591] rtw_8822ce :03:00.0: failed to write TX skb to HCI Oct 11 22:32:30 Brutus kernel: [51073.215600] rtw_8822ce :03:00.0: failed to pusk skb, ret -28 Oct 11 22:32:31 Brutus kernel: [51074.119382] rtw_8822ce :03:00.0: failed to write TX skb to HCI They appear at the same rate as the ping is attempted. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1875408] Re: Logitech G700s extra G buttons don't work in wireless mode
I got the same issue after updating from 18.04 to 20.10 (I did following update in one go 18.04 > 20.04 > 20.10, kernel x86_64 Linux 5.8.0-28-generic). I had issue with Logitech G604 using dongle. Buttons G4 and G7 (two buttons on the side, closest to the back of the mouse) stopped working plus when dongle was reconnected while system was running, scroll up and down was not working after the re-connection. The workaround for scroll issue was either to reboot whole machine or switch mouse into Bluetooth mode and back to dongle mode. Thankfully workaround by user Lastique works, both issues disappeared. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1875408 Title: Logitech G700s extra G buttons don't work in wireless mode Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: Starting with Linux kernel 5.4.0, extra buttons G4-G10 on the side and top of the Logitech G700s mouse don't work when the mouse is connected over the wireless dongle. The buttons do work in wired connection. The problem is not present with kernel 5.3.18. It is present with 5.4.28, 5.5.19, 5.6.7. In wireless mode, the `libinput list-devices` command does not show additional input devices, including the keyboard device, associated with the mouse. Only the "Logitech G700s" pointer device is shown. This problem appeared after upgrading Kubuntu 19.10 to 20.04. It was not present on 19.10. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1851987] Re: Long boot times, ACPI error messages in dmesg
I'm a complete noob so sorry for no logs, but I have the exact same configuration "I have a lenovo legion Y540 15IRH with nvidia 1660 ti" (don't know how to check motherboard) and the exact same message. Tried booting Kali Linux and Ubuntu. Worked for me the week previous, I think but after I updated BIOS drivers booting no longer works. Kai-Heng, you're saying they're harmless but for me booting stops and there is a weird, not moving, glitch on the screen. ** Attachment added: "IMG_0062.JPG" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1851987/+attachment/5329862/+files/IMG_0062.JPG -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1851987 Title: Long boot times, ACPI error messages in dmesg Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: I have a lenovo legion Y540 15IRH with nvidia 1660 ti and LNVNB161216 mother board and when i type (dmesg) command i get this [0.212539] ACPI BIOS Error (bug): Failure creating named object [\_SB.PCI0.XHC.RHUB.TPLD], AE_ALREADY_EXISTS (20190703/dswload2-323) [0.212546] ACPI Error: AE_ALREADY_EXISTS, During name lookup/catalog (20190703/psobject-220) [0.212548] ACPI: Skipping parse of AML opcode: Method (0x0014) [0.212597] ACPI BIOS Error (bug): Failure creating named object [\_SB.PCI0.XHC.RHUB.HS01._UPC], AE_ALREADY_EXISTS (20190703/dswload2-323) [0.212601] ACPI Error: AE_ALREADY_EXISTS, During name lookup/catalog (20190703/psobject-220) [0.212603] ACPI: Skipping parse of AML opcode: Method (0x0014) [0.212604] ACPI BIOS Error (bug): Failure creating named object [\_SB.PCI0.XHC.RHUB.HS01._PLD], AE_ALREADY_EXISTS (20190703/dswload2-323) [0.212607] ACPI Error: AE_ALREADY_EXISTS, During name lookup/catalog (20190703/psobject-220) [0.212608] ACPI: Skipping parse of AML opcode: Method (0x0014) [0.215043] ACPI BIOS Error (bug): Failure creating named object [\_SB.PCI0.XHC.RHUB.HS02._UPC], AE_ALREADY_EXISTS (20190703/dswload2-323) [0.215047] ACPI Error: AE_ALREADY_EXISTS, During name lookup/catalog (20190703/psobject-220) [0.215049] ACPI: Skipping parse of AML opcode: Method (0x0014) [0.215050] ACPI BIOS Error (bug): Failure creating named object [\_SB.PCI0.XHC.RHUB.HS02._PLD], AE_ALREADY_EXISTS (20190703/dswload2-323) [0.215053] ACPI Error: AE_ALREADY_EXISTS, During name lookup/catalog (20190703/psobject-220) [0.215054] ACPI: Skipping parse of AML opcode: Method (0x0014) [0.217473] ACPI BIOS Error (bug): Failure creating named object [\_SB.PCI0.XHC.RHUB.HS03._UPC], AE_ALREADY_EXISTS (20190703/dswload2-323) [0.217476] ACPI Error: AE_ALREADY_EXISTS, During name lookup/catalog (20190703/psobject-220) [0.217478] ACPI: Skipping parse of AML opcode: Method (0x0014) [0.217480] ACPI BIOS Error (bug): Failure creating named object [\_SB.PCI0.XHC.RHUB.HS03._PLD], AE_ALREADY_EXISTS (20190703/dswload2-323) [0.217482] ACPI Error: AE_ALREADY_EXISTS, During name lookup/catalog (20190703/psobject-220) [0.217483] ACPI: Skipping parse of AML opcode: Method (0x0014) [0.219901] ACPI BIOS Error (bug): Failure creating named object [\_SB.PCI0.XHC.RHUB.HS04._UPC], AE_ALREADY_EXISTS (20190703/dswload2-323) [0.219905] ACPI Error: AE_ALREADY_EXISTS, During name lookup/catalog (20190703/psobject-220) [0.219906] ACPI: Skipping parse of AML opcode: Method (0x0014) [0.219908] ACPI BIOS Error (bug): Failure creating named object [\_SB.PCI0.XHC.RHUB.HS04._PLD], AE_ALREADY_EXISTS (20190703/dswload2-323) [0.219910] ACPI Error: AE_ALREADY_EXISTS, During name lookup/catalog (20190703/psobject-220) [0.219912] ACPI: Skipping parse of AML opcode: Method (0x0014) [0.222324] ACPI BIOS Error (bug): Failure creating named object [\_SB.PCI0.XHC.RHUB.HS05._UPC], AE_ALREADY_EXISTS (20190703/dswload2-323) [0.222327] ACPI Error: AE_ALREADY_EXISTS, During name lookup/catalog (20190703/psobject-220) [0.222329] ACPI: Skipping parse of AML opcode: Method (0x0014) [0.224748] ACPI BIOS Error (bug): Failure creating named object [\_SB.PCI0.XHC.RHUB.HS06._UPC], AE_ALREADY_EXISTS (20190703/dswload2-323) [0.224752] ACPI Error: AE_ALREADY_EXISTS, During name lookup/catalog (20190703/psobject-220) [0.224753] ACPI: Skipping parse of AML opcode: Method (0x0014) [0.224755] ACPI BIOS Error (bug): Failure creating named object [\_SB.PCI0.XHC.RHUB.HS06._PLD], AE_ALREADY_EXISTS (20190703/dswload2-323) [0.224757] ACPI Error: AE_ALREADY_EXISTS, During name lookup/catalog (20190703/psobject-220) [0.224759] ACPI: Skipping parse of AML opcode: Method (0x0014) [0.227173] ACPI BIOS Error (bug): Failure creating named object [\_SB.PCI0.XHC.RHUB.HS07._UPC], AE_ALREADY_EXISTS (20190703/dswload2-323) [0.227176] ACPI Error: AE_ALREADY_EXISTS, During name

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1691556] Re: Can't send audio to Amazon Echo via Bluetooth
I had the same issue with Device or resource busy and the same problem when Alexa says that is connected to pc and no sound - but it's because your pc becomes bluetooth speaker for Echo, in that state pacmd list-cards shows: ... a2dp_source: Przechwytywanie o wysokiej dokładności (źródło A2DP) (priority 20, available: yes) a2dp_sink: Odtwarzanie o wysokiej dokładności (odpływ A2DP) (priority 40, available: no) off: Wyłączone (priority 0, available: yes) ... Finally I got connected Echo as bluetooth speaker and it's working now after reboot too. Steps to get Echo working as bluetooth speaker that works for me: 1. Echo doesn't know anything about bluetooth connection - so first forget your device in Alexa App, and other devices. 2. Reinstall your pulseaudio-module-bluetooth: for fedora: sudo dnf reinstall pulseaudio-module-bluetooth 3. Uncomment MultiProfile in /etc/bluetooth/main.conf and set it to multiple. (not sure if it is nesesery) 4. If you made modifications do: sudo systemctl daemon-reload sudo service bluetooth restart 5. Check if A2DPSink and source is registred with sudo service bluetooth status 6. If not do: pacmd load-module module-bluetooth-discover 7. Reset adapter: sudo hciconfig hci0 reset 8.Check if adapter works good: (my class is 0x1c0104) hciconfig -a 9. Now unload pulseaudio modules: pacmd unload-module module-switch-on-connect pacmd unload-module module-switch-on-port-available Now open terminal and run bluetoothctl, and in bluetoothctl type: default-agent remove ECHO_MAC (if you have saved it before) Now tell to Echo "Alexa, bluetooth" and after "Searching" Echo should show in bluetoothctl so connect it: connect ECHO_MAC exit After that bluetoothctl should show that connects to echo and pairs it, then pacmd list-cards will show a2dp_sink available yes. After reboot when you want to connect, don't say anything to echo, just run bluetoothctl and connect echo. If after connect bluetoothctl doesn't show anything about pair and connect, you can try to manualy connect to a2dp_sink with: dbus-send --print-reply --system --dest=org.bluez /org/bluez/hci0/dev_XX_XX_XX_XX_XX_XX org.bluez.Device1.ConnectProfile string:110b--1000-8000-00805f9b34f Replace XX with your echo MAC. Fedora 29, BlueZ 5.50. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to bluez in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1691556 Title: Can't send audio to Amazon Echo via Bluetooth Status in bluez package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: Pairing and coupling to Amazon Echo works, but no sound is heard. I believe the issue is related to the fact that Amazon Echo is paired as a handset (i.e., speaker + microphone) rather than just as a speaker. I believe the critical error is found in a dmesg line such as: Feb 28 10:59:05 n1 bluetoothd[1025]: a2dp-source profile connect failed for 50:F5:DA:A6:3F:EA: Device or resource busy as I describe in the askubuntu.com discussion at: https://askubuntu.com/questions/871630/cant-send-audio-to-amazon-echo- via-bluetooth I have clarified there my thinking and the steps I've taken thus far on this issue, which includes trying debug bluetooth per the Ubuntu wiki page which describes how to do so. This is probably an upstream issue, as Mike H-R has commented there that the problem also occurs on ArchLinux. I and a few others would like to get this resolved, and I am happy to help (I'm a software developer). However, at this point, I'm not sure how to proceed without some assistance. I suppose I could report it to Debain, but I've only ever used Debain vis a vis Ubuntu, so I thought it best to start here. Thanks. the same problem for me: When I start fresh system, the suspend to RAM and resume works properly. But after certain amount of time when OS works, suspending and resuming ends with no response (blank screen). Suspend/resume worked flawlessly with linux image 4.4.0-15, and after standard upgrade yesterday (5/04/2016) which installed image 4.4.0-16, the system freezes when attempting a suspend. I get no response from the system (nor keyboard, nor screen, nor touchpad), but it gets very hot, so that it must be running something. Booting with 4.4.0-15 makes the suspend to work perfectly. Same behavior observed with Nouveau and NVidia drivers. $ uname -a Linux laptop 3.11.0-18-generic #32-Ubuntu SMP Tue Feb 18 21:11:14 UTC 2014 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux $ free -m total used free sharedbuffers cached Mem: 3870 2580 1289 0 33406 -/+ buffers/cache: 2140 1730 Swap: 4011959 3052 $ lspci 00:00.0 Host bridge: Intel Corporation Core Processor DRAM Controller (rev 02) 00:01.0 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation Core Processor PCI Express x16 Root Port (rev 02) 00:1a.0 USB controller: Intel Corporation 5 Series/3400 Series Chipset USB2 Enhanced Host Controller (rev 05) 00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 5 Series/3400 Series Chipset High Definition Audio (rev 05) 00:1c.0 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation 5 Series/3400 Series Chipset PCI Express Root Port 1 (rev 05) 00:1c.1 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation 5 Series/3400 Series Chipset PCI Express Root Port 2 (rev 05) 00:1c.2 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation 5 Series/3400 Series Chipset PCI Express Root Port 3 (rev 05) 00:1c.3 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation 5 Series/3400 Series Chipset PCI Express Root Port 4 (rev 05) 00:1c.5 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation 5 Series/3400 Series Chipset PCI Express Root Port 6 (rev 05) 00:1c.6 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation 5 Series/3400 Series Chipset PCI Express Root Port 7 (rev 05) 00:1d.0 USB controller: Intel Corporation 5 Series/3400 Series Chipset USB2 Enhanced Host Controller (rev 05) 00:1e.0 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation 82801 Mobile PCI Bridge (rev a5) 00:1f.0 ISA bridge: Intel Corporation Mobile 5 Series Chipset LPC Interface Controller (rev 05) 00:1f.2 SATA controller: Intel Corporation 5 Series/3400 Series Chipset 6 port SATA AHCI Controller (rev 05) 00:1f.3 SMBus: Intel Corporation 5 Series/3400 Series Chipset SMBus Controller (rev 05) 00:1f.6 Signal processing controller: Intel Corporation 5 Series/3400 Series Chipset Thermal Subsystem (rev 05) 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: NVIDIA Corporation GT218M [GeForce 310M] (rev a2) 01:00.1 Audio device: NVIDIA Corporation High Definition Audio Controller (rev a1) 02:00.0 Network controller: Qualcomm Atheros AR9287 Wireless Network Adapter (PCI-Express) (rev 01) 03:00.0 SD Host controller: Ricoh Co Ltd MMC/SD Host Controller 03:00.1 System peripheral: Ricoh Co Ltd R5U2xx (R5U230 / R5U231 / R5U241) [Memory Stick Host Controller] 03:00.3 FireWire (IEEE 1394): Ricoh Co Ltd R5C832 PCIe IEEE 1394 Controller 03:00.4 SD Host controller: Ricoh Co Ltd MMC/SD Host Controller 04:00.0 Ethernet controller: Marvell Technology Group Ltd. 88E8057 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet Controller (rev 10) 05:00.0 Multimedia controller: Fujitsu Limited. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1301245] [NEW] System unresponsive under (IO/memory?) load
Public bug reported: Tasks producing a lot of IO activity and/or use large amount of memory (uncompressing a .tar.gz file, starting a VM in virtualbox) starve the rest of the system. The system is responding to user input very slowly (jerky mouse pointer movement with 1s intervals etc).
