[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1377279] Re: dmesg fills with speaker allocation warnings

2015-01-04 Thread Artemgy
I have now tested a new version of the upstream kernel where this issue
NO LONGER occurs:

cat /proc/version
Linux version 3.19.0-031900rc2-generic (apw@tangerine) (gcc version 4.6.3
(Ubuntu/Linaro 4.6.3-1ubuntu5) ) #201412290135 SMP Mon Dec 29 01:36:54 UTC 2014

Therefore I suggest there is no value to reporting this upstream. Thanks

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1375173] Re: [Acer AO722] suspend/resume failure

2014-10-06 Thread Artemgy
Although I do recall suspend issues on this hardware with 14.04, I no
longer have any installations prior to 14.10 on which to test. Therefore
I am not sure if I can help with regression. However I would be happy to
assist with parsing the scope down to determine if there are driver
fixes that could resolve this issue 100% of the time on 14.10.

Christoper (or colleagues), could you please advise where I can find
instructions to help me do this. Thanks, Artemgy

the same issue also occurs when using testing the mainline kernel
  3.17.0-031700rc7.201409281835.

The occasions on which this issue (the repeated warnings) occurs under strict
testing conditions include:
  * Using the Monitor Preferences (LXRandR) to turn OFF and ON the external
monitor (approx 10 warnings for each action)
  * Putting the system into the suspend power mode and subsequently resuming
(approx 30 warnings)

  No warnings occur when:
  * unplugging or plugging the HDMI cable
  * locking and unlocking the lightdm desktop

I have observed occasions where the warnings are written many, many
hundreds of times, on an almost continuous basis, but I have not been
able to reproduce this behavior in controlled circumstances.

Title:
  [Acer AO722] suspend/resume failure

Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
Lubuntu 14.10 Beta 2 newly installed
  * Close laptop lid to put system into suspend mode and power indicator
changes from blue to slow flashing orange, indicating that hardware has entered
suspend mode.
  * Reopen laptop lid and press a key to wake up, power indicator changes back
to steady blue indicating that system is coming back up into full power state.

HOWEVER screen remains completely blank (no backlight) and system
appears totally unresponsive (although difficult to tell with no
  screen).

  * Attempted to use hardware function keys to activate screen - nothing.
  * Tried ALT-CTRL-F1 then ALT-CTRL-F7 to wake up X, still no display.
  * Attempted single press of power button to initiate Shutdown - no respone
The only way to procede was to hold the power button for four seconds to kill
power and start cold
