[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1725259] Re: general protection fault: 0000 [#1] SMP

2017-11-14 Thread Cedric Br
I tested with Debian buster and Fedora 27 and the file is playing
without any GPU hangs. So the problem might be Ubuntu only. I also
tested Ubuntu 18.04 (daily 13/11) and the hangs still occurs. FOr me
this isn't a kernel or DRM/Intel Bug

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 572521] Re: vertical coloured lines on bootup dell inspiron 1501 (still in 13.04)

2015-02-10 Thread Yu (Br) Shen
This problem of "vertical coloured lines on bootup dell inspiron 1501"
still presents with 14.04. I just upgraded from 12.04 to 14.04, in the
upgrade process the fix of adding radeon.nomodestet=1 at grub bootline
got lost, and the vertical colored stripes came back when booting up.
However, it seems that it seems it happened not as often.

I wish that the problem could be fixed. My laptop is a Dell INspiron
1501.

I read in the list that it has related to Unity? Is it true?

Thanks for your help!

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1239578] Re: No wireless support for Realtek RTL8192EE [10ec:818b]

2015-01-17 Thread BR
Thanks Larry.

My first attempt with those drivers didn't work, but I'm going to try
again on a fresh install. Should I be installing them on 14.04LTS or
14.10 (does it even matter)? I'm guessing I just clone the repo,
checkout the troy branch, and then run 'make', 'make install', and
that's it?

Bug description:
Open this bug to trace device driver RTL8192EE.

We have seen this wireless card on some laptops, id is [10ec:818b],
  driver is RTL8192EE.

This bug is only for the initial support of this WiFi adapter, it's
not working 100% well yet, please report new "not working bug" or
contact upstream but not keep posting comments, thanks.

  Status:

pull-request for trusty was NAKed because next minor Trusty release
will use Utopic LTS kernel, which had already fixed this issue.

please wait it or upgrade your whole distro to Utopic.

Just to add to the clamor, I'm in exactly the same position as Frances
(T440, tried both 14.04LTS and 14.10).
