[Kernel-packages] [Bug 2060716] Re: Screen flickering again

2024-04-19 Thread Bastian
I de-installed the nvidia driver completly and can confirm: This solves
the flickering issue.

Installing it again also adds flickering again.

(Using the 535 "tested" driver from the ubuntu distribution.)

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 2060716] Re: Screen flickering again

2024-04-19 Thread Bastian
Thanks for your reply. I tested now both PSR settings, and the results
are

There is no screen flickering in 6.5.0-13, regardless of enable_psr=0 or
enable_psr=1

There is always screen flickering (every 1-2 minutes) in 6.5.0-27,
regardless of enable_psr=0 or enable_psr=1

So PSR seems to have no influence on this issue.

I Also attached the edid-Data from
/sys/devices/pci:00/:00:02.0/drm/card0/card0-eDP-1/edid

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1964586] [NEW] Mellanox Network Driver Bug Laser Wavelength

2022-03-11 Thread Bastian
Public bug reported:

Kernel Version 5.13.0 introduced a new bug. This bug was eventually fixed on
Kernel Version 5.15.20.
This Bug causes Mellanox Networking Adapters to a lot of errors, when connected
over fibre.
The standard laser wavelength of this transceivers is 850nm, with this error it
increases to 22560nm and invalid information on "Vendor SN" etc.

Initial change on Kernel 5.13.0 ->
https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/stable/linux.git/commit/?id=e19b0a3474ab9ef90dd110af9f39fc87329755f1

Applying this fix to Kernel 5.13.0 solves the problem.

We wrote an article on this matter with further details (in German) ->
https://www.thomas-
krenn.com/de/wiki/Mellanox_ConnectX-4/5/6_Bitfehler_ab_Linux_Kernel_5.13

Would it be possible to backport that fix?

  SLUB freelist corruption with ceph

Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
Several different systems, both vm and bare metal, running Ubuntu
20.04 LTS and different Ubuntu kernel versions with the generic
  kernel, 5.4.0-91.81, a mainline 5.15 build from kernel.ubuntu.com,
  5.11-hwe, show random panics.

The crash dumps all show panics within the SLUB memory management
stuff. Analyzing the kdump show invalid free list pointers:

CACHE OBJSIZE ALLOCATED TOTAL SLABS SSIZE NAME
kmem: kmalloc-256: slab: efc73e319900 invalid freepointer:

The kernel log shows warnings about wrong slab cache:

kmem_cache_free+0x260/0x2b0

This shows up if there are several hundred MB per second backup
traffic via ceph (I think using rbd). Sometimes it only takes minutes
  for the system to panic.

  Hardware:
  HP DL380 Gen10
  AMD EPYC 7502 32-Core Processor
  256GB RAM

  Firmware and microcode are uptodate.

I attached one backtraces, the warning message, the panic.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1901755] Re: "btrfs subvolume list" sporadically segfaults with linux-image-5.4.0-52-generic

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1861063] Re: Dualshock4 controller doesn't stay connected

2020-02-07 Thread Bastian Bittorf
Same issue for me with fresh mainline kernel 5.5.2 on debian.
The controller model (the same) is: CUH-ZCT2U

  Dualshock4 controller doesn't stay connected

Status in bluez package in Ubuntu:
  New
Status in linux package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
Pairing the Dualshock4 controller works somehow, after several
attempts. I expected this to work out of the box but it does not work
  well at all.

Once the pairing is completed, if I try to connect it it doesn't stay
  connected.

I have checked the dmesg and apparently there is a buffer overflow
  somewhere.

I can pair a bluetooth headset to my laptop and the Dualshock4 pairs
with my samsung tablet without problems but when I try to pair the
dualshock4 to the laptop, running Ubuntu 19.10, it does not work.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1829598] Re: GCC Update breaks CC checks with dkms and others because kernel compiled in old gcc version

2019-06-25 Thread Bastian Jesuiter
No it's not, had 3 kernel updates from the stable release in the
meantime - and needed to ignore cc version while installing Nvidia
driver, dkms still does not work, thus I'm forced to install the driver
manually every time the kernel updates

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1723736] Re: Touchpad not detected - Lenovo ideapad 320-15IKB

2017-12-01 Thread Bastian Boese
Ok I tried the -proposed kernel for xenial and artful.

Problem is, I'm using zesty. I installed the -proposed kernels and
headers, and after a reboot neither my touchpad nor my wifi was working.
I admit that I am a linux beginner, so I'm not sure if it is even
possible to use those xenial and artful kernels with my zesty Ubuntu.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1686189] Re: External monitor connecting problem on Intel graphics card

2017-05-31 Thread Bastian Schaar
For me, 4.4.0-78 actually made it worse on my Dell Latitude E7250 to the
point where I had to downgrade to 4.4.0-72 in order to be able to use
external monitors again.

With versions prior to 4.4.0-78, running xrandr a couple of times would
usually cycle through all kinds of weird broken setups with parts of
what was supposed to be shown on one monitor being shown in the corner
of a different monitor and similar problems.

But after a few attempts, it used to somehow "get it right" and display
the right layout.

With 4.4.0-78, this workaround stopped working as even though the layout
may be correct, there simply is "no signal" on external monitors. They
are detected by xrandr as being present and connected, the window
manager appears to recognize them but neither of them receives a video
signal so they just go to sleep after a few seconds.

The built-in notebook display keeps working all the time.

External monitors appear to work up to the point at which the switch
from "VESA VGA" to "inteldrmfb" occurs.

After going back to 4.4.0-72, all issues went away. Even the layout
options given to xrandr now work as expected.

I looks like something is horribly wrong with Intel graphics support.

correctly, which obviously doesn't use gtk, while Gnome Terminal and
  Guake do not.

This suggests it could be related to framebuffer corruption, but this
report was made with a much earlier kernel, and I had no such problems
  under 15.10. http://askubuntu.com/questions/688306/text-missing-

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1243693] Re: RT3290 12.04 new kernel

2013-11-29 Thread Bastian van Binsbergen
I have the same problem. A kernel update in October screwed up the wireless
card.
When I boot the laptop ( HP 655 Ubuntu certified) I can choose which kernel I
want to use.
I choose for 3.2.0-32. It was installed when i bought the notebook.

3.2.0-55 and 3.2.0-56 kernels both screw the wireless driver or card up.

https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu-certification/+question/238136 In
this tread there is some additional information from myself and someone
else.

Personally I am not going to try the newest kernel. I wnat my card to
work with the kernel that is installed by the update-manager. I bought
this notebook especially because it has ubuntu certification but it is
not working properly. A shame if you ask me.
