[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1730331] Re: ath10k_pci: firmware crashed!

2018-12-19 Thread Chris Klosowski
Just wanted to add a note here. I had noticed this only happened on my
home network, and nowhere else.

I had tried hard-setting the channels and bands but nothing affected it
on my Linksys WRT1200AC even with moving it around the house and using
extenders. At my co-working space I rarely had the issue on a Netgear
Nighthawk.

I replaced the router and added extender with a Nighthawk X10 and
Nighthawk X6S mesh extender and things seem to have stopped the drops
entirely for me.

I know replacing the router isn't a solution, but thought it might give
some ideas as to possibly being in the way the routers and the signals
are read by the firmware.

I'm also seeing this occur on 18.10. These are some logs in my
`/var/log/syslog` around the time of the crash:

This is my readout from running a wireless info report, a note I'm using
docker for local development work, so there are a bunch of bridged
connections in the iwconfig. I've tried removing docker and still the
issue persists. If the information below isn't adequate let me know of a
way to get the information you're needing.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1799988] Re: Missing wifi and bluetooth after sleep on XPS 9370

2018-10-31 Thread Chris Klosowski
I've had some intermittent Wi-Fi issues after upgrading to 18.10.

I started with the 16.04 installed from Dell, then did the upgrade to
18.04 and then 18.10. Since going to 18.10 (which comes with the new
Gnome Shell) I've had issues with WiFi basically become unresponsive
after periods of time. I can try and disable WiFi but even the Gnome
Shell controls for it get confused on the status of the device.

I'm currently running with the Bluetooth disabled in the bios in order
to see if it resolves the WiFi issues. So far it's kept me up and
running longer than I've previously seen so it might be something to do
with the drivers for the included wireless card that runs both the
bluetooth and wifi (I believe)

  3. Wake it and find wifi and bluetooth missing.

I have to mention that I have also been experienced bluetooth only
missing, but it somehow transformed to the issue with both wireless
  devices.

Dmesg after waking up with the issue attached

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1767611] Re: ath10k_pci crash leading to unstable wifi on 18.04

2018-10-24 Thread Chris Klosowski
I know this got marked as 'invalid' but I'm experiencing this now on
18.10 with this driver after updating to 18.0.4.1 (I was not
experiencing it previously). It doesn't take a suspend for me. I can be
actively using the system and have the issue arise.

Kernal: Ubuntu 4.18.0-10.11-generic 4.18.12

Oddly enough it's only when I'm connected to my home network. I've been
on two other networks without issue.

Not working (Home): 5gHz Linksys WRT 1200 AC

Other working networks:
Nighthawk Router
WiFi Tether on my mobile device

It seems to be inconsistent for me as well. Usually, if I catch it early
enough, I can simply turn off the WiFi and turn it back on and things
resolve out. However, if it sits in this state too long, the system
overall is less responsive and I can't get the WiFi to recover.

Is there anything else I can supply?
