Title:
  Bluetooth keyboard has lag

Status in bluez package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
For some days, I observe an annoying lag with my Logitech K380
keyboard and Ubuntu 20.04. After a couple of seconds not typing, new
keystrokes are registered only after 1–2 seconds lag. From there on,
I can type without lag, until the next typing pause.

I seems that the Bluetooth component switches Bluetooth in some sort of
hibernate after a couple of seconds of not typing, and then it needs 1–2
seconds to wake up again and process the keystrokes.
No keys are missing – they just arrive with a lag. Probably the keyboard
buffers them.

Important: If I listen to music with a Bluetooth headset, I can type
without *any* problems because the Bluetooth module remains awake due
  to the music transmission.

The keyboard does not exhibit this issues at my Android tablet.
Furthermore, I am sometimes lucky can work with the keyboard without
  any lag (and without music).

In the BIOS settings of the computer, I do not find anything
  Bluetooth-related.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1846539] Re: [broadwell-rt286, playback] Since Linux 5.2rc2 audio playback no longer works on Dell Venue 11 Pro 7140

2019-12-05 Thread David Ward
There are two upstream commits that make the SOF and SST drivers
mutually exclusive on a specific platform.

The one for Broadwell is now merged into the Ubuntu kernel:
https://git.launchpad.net/~ubuntu-kernel/ubuntu/+source/linux/+git/eoan/commit/?id=d46917958a6366f3c63501e9962b60dd7d33a3bd

But the matching one for Baytrail is missing. It should be merged as well:
https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux.git/commit?id=df7257e544faf838c3e7ad6b4e89ffe59e87f5e1

Thanks!

Bug description:
  [Impact]
With the current default kernel config, the SND_SOC_SOF_BROADWELL_SUPPORT
is set to Y, then it will make the legacy intel soc driver fail, and
moreover the current sof driver can't support broadwell well, as a
result, many broadwell computers with I2S codec can't support sound anymore.

  [Fix]
Intel submitted a patch, it will make those two kconfig options exclusive,
and the legacy soc's option has higher priority, if both of them are
enabled, sof's option will be disabled.

  [Test Case]
Build the kernel and check the debian/build/$buidling_dir/.config, the
  SND_SOC_SOF_BROADWELL_SUPPORT is disabled.

  [Regression Risk]
Low, so far, the sof driver can't support broadwell machine well, so
there is no machine use this driver yet.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1846539] Re: [broadwell-rt286, playback] Since Linux 5.2rc2 audio playback no longer works on Dell Venue 11 Pro 7140

2019-10-28 Thread David Ward
Ubuntu kernel team:

In the kernel package for Ubuntu, CONFIG_SND_SOC_SOF_INTEL_TOPLEVEL
(introduced in 5.2-rc1) needs to be changed from 'Y' back to its default
value of 'N'. As described by Intel, this option cannot currently be set
together with CONFIG_SND_SOC_INTEL_SST_TOPLEVEL.

  Hello!

I noticed that since Linux 5.2rc2 audio playback no longer works on
Dell Venue 11 Pro 7140 (Intel Core M-5Y71; rt286). Turns out that
happened because SND_SOC_SOF_BROADWELL_SUPPORT was enabled in kernel

  1. Build with enabled SND_SOC_SOF_BROADWELL_SUPPORT from

Status in Linux:

  Fix Released

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: kernel-image-2.6.27-2-generic-di

I get static from only the left channel even on a clean install of
8.04.1. Now I have upgraded to 8.10 and I have the same issue.

I have a dell dimension 9150 with codec stac 9221 A1 that loads hda-
  intel.

I found a workaround to my problem which consists of simply rebooting
the machine, then the static is gone. But when I shut down and
restart, the static is back. It is a slight pain booting twice every
  time to get acceptable sound.

I've tried different programs, different devices
(pulseaudio/oss/alsa), lowering the sliders in the volume control but
  with no luck.

Should I include any other files/info?

  Thanks

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1290418] Re: rfkill unable to control HP 2510p wireless devices

2015-08-31 Thread David Ward
Can you please test the patch that is attached to the kernel bug report:
https://bugzilla.kernel.org/attachment.cgi?id=186411=diff=patch==1=raw

This change is not yet in the mainline kernel; feedback is needed to
understand if this fixes the issue on older systems such as yours.

If you are not familiar with patching the kernel, I can create an
(unofficial) ppa for you with a kernel package that contains this patch.
Please let me know if you are using still Ubuntu Trusty with the
original 3.13 kernel or with an LTS kernel (3.16 or 3.19), or if you are
using a newer release of Ubuntu.
