  package linux-image-3.19.0-17-generic 3.19.0-17.17 failed to
install/upgrade: subprocess new pre-installation script returned error
  exit status 128

Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
I don't know what happened. Just installed the kernel and on the
first boot after it crashed at the login screen when entering in my
password, the funny thing is that entered the wrong password and it
took it anyway, and then proceeded to load the desktop manager and
crashed back to the login screen but by this point I could not see the
login screen, I only heard the sound that occurs when the login screen
loads. I had to hard reboot to get past this but it booted and logged
  in fine after the reboot.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1305914] [NEW] [Dell Inc. Inspiron 1720] suspend/resume failure [non-free: wl]

2014-04-10 Thread Dennis Malefyt
Public bug reported:

This a re-occurrence of bug 1304591.

J. Salisbury asked me to test kernel v3.14 but when I went to
wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMaillineBuilds it was not at all obvious to me
what I should do to build and test. I am not a Unix/Linux/Ubuntu expert.
I need obvious.

I have been unable to duplicate this error on demand. After the first
occurrence I went through many suspend/resume cycles deliberately trying
to get a failure, but no luck.
