[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1386175] Re: Desktop freezes on login and while booting the ISO image
I tried mainline kernel v3.18-rc2 as suggested. It would not boot properly and took me to the intramfs screen (see attachment). Also while starting with that kernel the screen was stretched horizontally. I have also updated BIOS to A12, the problem still persists with that BIOS version. Status for various kernel version sis as follows : 3.16.0-17 (Utopic-Beta2) - **WORKS** 3.16.0-23 - Does not Work 3.17.1 - Does not Work 3.18.0-rc2 - Does not boot properly ** Attachment added: 3.18 Kernel error.png https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1386175/+attachment/4247059/+files/3.18%20Kernel%20error.png ** Tags added: kernel-unable-to-test-upstream ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete = Confirmed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1386175 Title: Desktop freezes on login and while booting the ISO image Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: Variants tested on which error found - * Ubuntu-14.10-Desktop Final Release * Ubuntu-Gnome-14.10-Desktop Final release When booting the ISO (using grubentry method), the screen freezes and becomes unresponsive after 3 secs of showing up the desktop GUI screen. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1382863] Re: Utopic freezes while booting the ISO image
I cannot run apport-collect as that would need to open browser, which means going into Desktop GUI, which automatically leads to freeze. I face the same issue with even the latest daily images, I can see on cdimages.ubuntu.com , namely: - Ubuntu Desktop Utopic 20141017 amd64 image - Ubuntu GNOME Utopic 20141016 amd64 image I have attached kernel logs, before for both the images. If I do Ctrl-ALT-F1 as soon as Desktop screen appears, I acn keep working in Console, abut as soon as I try to go back to desktop Gui, It freezes, both on Ubuntu Unity Desktop and Ubuntu Gnome Desktop. Let me know if I can provide anyother logs, and teh commands I can run to collect those. ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete = Confirmed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1382863 Title: Utopic freezes while booting the ISO image Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: I'm testing an Ubuntu GNOME Utopic 20141016 amd64 image.
