Title:
Wifi keeps failing with: Failed to run INIT ucode: -110

Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
Quite a few people are complaining about this issue. For example:
  https://community.frame.work/t/solved-getting-wifi-working-on-
  ubuntu-22-04/25246.

  $ lsb_release -rd
  Description: Ubuntu 22.04.1 LTS
  Release: 22.04

Something wrong with the iwlwifi firmware and/or driver?
On boot it fails many (most?) times.
When it does work, it seems to work correctly. Does not seem to be hardware
issue.
When it fails, on reboot no wifi option exists.
When the wifi option does exist, starting and stopping airplane mode can
sometime help.

  Worked with 20.0X ok.

Title:
Wifi keeps failing with: Failed to run INIT ucode: -110

Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
Quite a few people are complaining about this issue. For example:
  https://community.frame.work/t/solved-getting-wifi-working-on-
  ubuntu-22-04/25246.

  $ lsb_release -rd

  $ lsb_release -rd

Something wrong with the iwlwifi firmware and/or driver?
On boot it fails many (most?) times.

When it fails, on reboot no wifi option exists.
When the wifi option does exist, starting and stopping airplane mode can
sometime help.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1993052] Re: iwlwifi Not valid error log pointer 0x00000000 causes WiFi to not work but bluetooth works

2023-01-30 Thread Hugo Ferreira
@yk4ever: I am having the same issue. Was it a hardware issue? Does the
modprobe still work? In my case it does not. What kernel are you using
now?

Bug description:
For some reason, Ubuntu gets glitched where the Bluetooth works but
WiFi does not even show up. If I reboot into Windows, it is a similar
issue (wifi does not show up, but device manager shows Code 10. If I
disable and enable the adaptor Intel Wireless AC 9560, it sometimes
works and most times does not). After a few days, the issue goes away.

  Relevent info:
  Laptop: Asus ROG Strig-G 531GT
  Using newest bios 308
WiFi Adaptor: Intel Wireless AC 9560
As for wifi connection, usually wifi icon does not even show and stays that
way throughout the whole uptime. If I reboot a couple of times, this may
change. However, the wifi I connect to usually is WiFi 5 on 5G channel running
WPA2. If I use my laptop outside my home, it connects to enterprise WiFi

Wifi keeps failing with: Failed to run INIT ucode: -110

Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
Quite a few people are complaining about this issue. For example:
  https://community.frame.work/t/solved-getting-wifi-working-on-
  ubuntu-22-04/25246.

  $ lsb_release -rd

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1911055] Re: [modeset][nvidia] suspend/resume broken in nvidia-460 : Display engine push buffer channel allocation failed

2021-05-31 Thread Hugo Ferreira
I had the same issue in a ZBook G5 but interestingly enough I got this
working.

Some background: I had used the Nvidia drive 460 with success. However
due to a small mishap, I had to reinstall Ubuntu. Second time around,
though I go the error reported here. I tried installing the drives
directly via the "Software & Updates -> Additional Driver" application
and via the packages (never NVIDIAs scripts). But these did not work.
But the following 2 steps seemed to get this doing:

1. Configure the use of the suspend and resume scripts shown here:
https://download.nvidia.com/XFree86/Linux-x86_64/460.39/README/powermanagement.html

2. Use the "Software & Updates -> Additional Driver" application but use
the "NVIDIA Server Driver metapackage ... (proprietery)" and *not* the
"NVIDIA driver metapackage ... (proprietary, tested)"

Tests show both NVIDia profiles work now on resume.

It would be interresting to get feedback from others. If this in fact
does work, then one needs to know what is the diffference between the
above two options.

That is one exercise I would like to avoid.
Don't want to brick this thing. Going to look into it.

. I cannot resume with the builtin At keyboard or touchpad

An update. I have update 18.04.2 with the 4.18 kernel.
Still not working. Still have ACPI errors. Now I get
error messages for thew USB ports - "can't set config".

As far as the behavior goes - now the track pad works on boot
but ACPI wake will not work with the laptop's built-in
keyboard not with the track-pad. Same for external keyboard
and mouse.

Link to change the package name does not work. It has already been
changed to linux. I assume the issues are kernel related. Need I change
anything else?

  Some background information:
I have a new Ubuntu 18.04 installation that did not go too well.
The Live-USB installation would hang with ACPi related errors.
I finally installed (barring a GRUB install error) using the acpi=off kernel
flag.
I also tested with acpi=force and no acpi settings (only worked after the
last kernel update).
  I report here with

Title:
18.04 LTS - ACPI parsing errors in ZBook G5 Mobile Workstation: issues
  ex. suspend, touchpad

Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  Some background information:
I have a new Ubuntu 18.04 installation that did not go too well.
The Live-USB installation would hang with ACPi related errors.
I finally installed (barring a GRUB install error) using the acpi=off kernel
flag.
I also tested with acpi=force and no acpi settings (only worked after the
last kernel update).
  I report here with
  - no changes in the kernel parameters
  - no changes in BIOS except of graphics set to hybrid (Nvidia + Intel)
otherwise I could not get it to work

I am following the indications here:
  https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingACPI

So here is the initial information I have (kernel version, kernel

** Description changed:

  Some background information:
I have a new Ubuntu 18.04 installation that did not go too well.
The Live-USB installation would hang with ACPi related errors.
I finally installed (barring a GRUB install error) using the acpi=off kernel
flag.
I also tested with acpi=force and no acpi settings (only worked after the
last kernel update).
  I report here with
  - no changes in the kernel parameters
  - no changes in BIOS except of graphics set to hybrid (Nvidia + Intel)
otherwise I could not get it to work

I am following the indications here:

I have also added the following outputs:

  sudo lspci -vvnn >> report.txt

  sudo dmidecode > dmidecode.txt

The kern.log after a suspend and resume.

Some weird behavior I have noticed:

. The Live-USB pendrive allowed me to use the touchpad when testing and
installing Ubuntu
. The current kernel does not allow me to use the touchpad
. After I resume, the touchpad can be used
. I cannot resume with the builtin At keyboard or touchpad
. The dock (via Thunderbolt) gives me access to a mouse and keyboard that I
use to

So here is the initial information I have (kernel version, kernel
  parameters, ACPI errors):
