As far as I can tell, this has now resolved for me. Anyone still having
issues?

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 2044630] Re: zfs-dkms 2.1.5-1ubuntu6~22.04.2- Kernel module failed to build

2024-01-02 Thread J C Nash
My issue with the zfs-dkms bug was raised by Linux Mint update giving an error
message each time
an upgrade was run. The error message has now stopped appearing. I've not seen
any news that the
issue is fixed. Does anyone have information that the corrections have migrated
through from the
upstream repos? JN

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1879807] Re: 5.3.0-53 Kernel system falis to reboot after install

2020-05-24 Thread J C Nash
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1879185 has link to
a kernel image that seems to fix the issue in at least my case. I am not
experienced enough in this arena to be sure if it is a duplicate.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1879185] Re: fails with kernel 5.3 on linux mint, HP-Laptop-14-cm0xxx

2020-05-23 Thread J C Nash
Sorry. Meant 994 kernel booted and shut down OK. But I have 5.3.0-53
available to boot if some diagnostics are needed, though I plan to stay
on 51 until the dust settles.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1879185] Re: fails with kernel 5.3 on linux mint, HP-Laptop-14-cm0xxx

2020-05-22 Thread J C Nash
I installed
  linux-modules-5.7.0-994-generic_5.7.0-994.202005192206_amd64.deb
then
  linux-image-unsigned-5.7.0-994-generic_5.7.0-994.202005192206_amd64.deb
(because of dependency, has to be that order), and then rebooted and
selected the 994 version (I have vmlinuz-5.3.0-51-generic as default, and
can also choose -53- if desired).

It booted fine, and shut down seemingly correctly.

Do you want me to run any diagnostics or logs?

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1879185] Re: fails with kernel 5.3 on linux mint, HP-Laptop-14-cm0xxx

2020-05-22 Thread J C Nash
I'm running Linux Mint 19.3 Mate. I'm willing to put up a VirtualBox VM in
20.04,
but really can't do a reinstall right now, as there's about a weeks' worth of
custom updates. (I write application software for numerical stuff, but can't
pretend knowledge of kernel / module level stuff.)

However, am willing to try what I can.

Title:
fails with kernel 5.3 on linux mint, HP-Laptop-14-cm0xxx

Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
I reset the previous kernel to be able to post, because it is very difficult
to work like this, this happens randomly, intermittently with each application
or without having anything open. It happened from the last update to kernel
5.3, I suppose that it is the very new laptop since in another partition I have
Kali and it happens the same. I appreciate your help, I list the
characteristics of this laptop
