2019-02-04 Thread Jason Moore
I am not sure what changed (I have run apt upgrade a couple of times),
but I am no longer having this issue.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1634325] Re: Lenovo X250 failes to suspend after being docked

2016-12-01 Thread Jason Moore
I just tried out the mainline 4.9-rc7 kernel and this seems to fix the
problem. I am able to dock and undock and in addition suspend works
after undocking.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1642356] Re: Ubuntu 16.10 no longer connects to Panasonic projector through vga

2016-12-01 Thread Jason Moore
I also can confirm that the latest kernel update (4.8.0-28-generic) has
fixed the problem to connecting to the project through VGA.

I'm not sure if this is related, but the kernel update killed proper
docking for the same machine, see:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1634325

Ubuntu 16.10 no longer connects to Panasonic projector through vga

Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
I have a Lenovo Thinkpad X250 and I was running 16.04 and regularly
using a Panasonic PT-FIV430 FW430 WXGA projector with no issues. Once
I upgraded to 16.10 the operating system no longer detects the
projector through VGA (or if I use a mini-display adapter to connect
to the mini-display port). The projector is not detected at all. I
have confirmed that the VGA port works fine with a external monitor
and it also does not work with a different Panasonic projector model
(I didn't take that model number down).

In close to ten years of Ubuntu use this is the first time I've had
trouble connecting to something through the VGA.

Is there anyway to force this connection? I have to use this projector
in my classroom and I'm currently in a pickle.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1634325] Re: Lenovo X250 failes to suspend after being docked

2016-11-30 Thread Jason Moore
As I mentioned above, disconnecting from the docking station was
problematic with 16.04 and once I upgraded to 16.10 the docking and
subsequent suspend worked. A new kernel update came through today:

Linux garuda 4.8.0-28-generic #30-Ubuntu SMP Fri Nov 11 14:03:52 UTC
2016 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

and now removing from docking fails. If I boot the computer, login, and
then dock everything works. When I remove the computer from the docking
station the laptop screen stays black and there is no way to interact
with the computer so I have to hard shutdown.

I'm also facing issues with this bug:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1642356 (maybe
related). This also has shifted from working, to non-working, to working
from the kernel changes.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1634325] Re: Lenovo X250 failes to suspend after being docked

2016-11-27 Thread Jason Moore
I did not have time to try other kernels with 16.04 but I did upgrade to
16.10 and the computer is now able to suspend after being released from
the dock. This works but causes the computer to lag and also randomly
shuts down Firefox on suspend and un-suspend.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1642356] Re: Ubuntu 16.10 no longer connects to Panasonic projector through vga

2016-11-26 Thread Jason Moore
I found out that if I chain a VGA to HDMI adapter with an HDMI to mini-
displayport adapter that the projector is recognized and all works as
expected. But I'm not able to get a VGA to mini-diplayport adapter to
work.

Title:

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1642356] Re: Ubuntu 16.10 no longer connects to Panasonic projector through vga

2016-11-17 Thread Jason Moore
Today I directly connected my computer through HDMI (with mini-
displayport adpater) to the projector and it works fine. It may be
important to note that my university has a console which is in-between
the projector and the computer that somehow controls what the device the
VGA is connected to. I still do not know if my computer would recognize
the projector through a direct VGA connection. I'll try to confirm that
soon.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1634325] [NEW] Lenovo X250 failes to suspend after being docked

2016-10-17 Thread Jason Moore
Public bug reported:

I have a Lenovo Thinkpad X250 and the ThinkPad Ultra Dock docking
station which is connected to two Lenovo monitors via DisplayPort.
Docking works fine but if I remove the computer from the dock and try to
suspend, the computer locks up (screen freezes no keyboard commands
work) and I have to hard reboot. The computer works fine after removing
from the dock except for this suspend issue.
