Bug description:
There are reproduce-able WiFi aborts with 20.04.1 LTS since update to
  kernel 5.4.0-56.

Behaviour: nm-applet shows a window to enter the WLAN key that is pre-
filled. Hitting the "Connect" button reconnects the WiFi network for a
  small period.

The error occurs sometimes very often (e.g. 10 times/minute) or seldom
(only one per day). You can see it in /var/log/syslog at the entry

  >>> wpa_supplicant[xxx]: l2_packet_send - sendto: No buffer space
  available

As a result 4-Way-Handshake fails and after disconnection the new (old) key
is requested.
  >>> wpa_supplicant[xxx]: wlp3s0: WPA: 4-Way Handshake failed - pre-shared key
may be incorrect
  >>> NetworkManager[xxx]:  [xxx] device (wlp3s0): Activation: (wifi)
disconnected during association, asking for new key

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1869860] [NEW] Ubuntu mainline kernel v5.6 not supported by bcmwl-kernel-source

2020-03-31 Thread Klaus Bielke
Public bug reported:

I am using Ubuntu 18.04 with kernel 4.15.0-91-generic and packet bcmwl-
kernel-source version 6.30.223.271+bdcom-0ubuntu5~18.04.1 from bionic-
updates. Wifi BCM43228 802.11a/b/g/n [14e4:4359] is fine working.

But working stops after installing ubuntu mainline kernel v5.6 (image, modules,
headers-all, headers-amd64). While installing kernel there were error messages
regarding dkms and no dkms-modul was built.

bcmwl-kernel-source should support kernel v5.6

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1580697] Re: Kernel freezes after drm_wait_one_vblank timed out

2016-05-13 Thread Klaus Bielke
@19:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1542939/comments/20 states
that bug 1542939 is fixed in kernel version 4.5.
I still see this bug (#1580697) when I run a mainstream kernel 4.5 or 4.6, so I
suspect it is not a duplicate.

Kernel freezes after drm_wait_one_vblank timed out

Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
Using kernel 4.4.0 from Ubuntu GNOME 16.04 I get a lot of warnings
'drm_wait_one_vblank timed out' while booting and every time when I
switch user or session via Alt-Fn. Example logs will be attached, I
used this for saving the log:

  journalctl -b --system --no-pager |tee bootlog-$(uname
  -r)-$(lsb_release -sr)

I suspect this may be related to some of my problems (slow switch,
freeze, wrong VT: Alt-Fn6 roots to tty3) when switching virtual
  terminal.

I see these messages on 16.04 or 14.04 when using kernel 4.4.0-21-generic,
4.4.0-22-generic or mainline kernel 4.4.0-040400-generic or
4.5.2-040502-generic, but mainline kernel 4.3.6-040306-generic does not throw
this message and there are no problems with 4.3.6 while switching VT.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1580697] Re: Kernel freezes after drm_wait_one_vblank timed out

2016-05-13 Thread Klaus Bielke
@20: Bootet with mainline kernel 4.6-rc7
(uname -rv says: 4.6.0-040600rc7-generic #201605081830 SMP Sun May 8 22:48:45
UTC 2016 ).

Still same behavior as with kernel 4.4.0:
Messages 'vblank wait timed out' present in bootlog, see appended file.
Every user/session switch (Crtl-Alt-Fn) to a X11-screen generates 3 of these
messages.
VT-switch to an non X11-screen does not produce these messages.

Need time for testing, if freeze still occures.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1580697] Lspci.txt

2016-05-12 Thread Klaus Bielke

Title:
Kernel freezes after drm_wait_one_vblank timed out

Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
Using kernel 4.4.0 from Ubuntu GNOME 16.04 I get a lot of warnings
'drm_wait_one_vblank timed out' while booting and every time when I
switch user or session via Alt-Fn. Example logs will be attached, I
used this for saving the log:

  journalctl -b --system --no-pager |tee bootlog-$(uname
  -r)-$(lsb_release -sr)

I suspect this may be related to some of my problems (slow switch,
freeze, wrong VT: Alt-Fn6 roots to tty3) when switching virtual
  terminal.

I see these messages on 16.04 or 14.04 when using kernel 4.4.0-21-generic,
4.4.0-22-generic or mainline kernel 4.4.0-040400-generic or
4.5.2-040502-generic, but mainline kernel 4.3.6-040306-generic does not throw
this message and there are no problems with 4.3.6 while switching VT.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1580697] ProcCpuinfo.txt

Title:
Kernel freezes after drm_wait_one_vblank timed out

Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
Using kernel 4.4.0 from Ubuntu GNOME 16.04 I get a lot of warnings
'drm_wait_one_vblank timed out' while booting and every time when I
switch user or session via Alt-Fn. Example logs will be attached, I
used this for saving the log:

  journalctl -b --system --no-pager |tee bootlog-$(uname
  -r)-$(lsb_release -sr)

I suspect this may be related to some of my problems (slow switch,
freeze, wrong VT: Alt-Fn6 roots to tty3) when switching virtual
  terminal.

I see these messages on 16.04 or 14.04 when using kernel 4.4.0-21-generic,
4.4.0-22-generic or mainline kernel 4.4.0-040400-generic or
4.5.2-040502-generic, but mainline kernel 4.3.6-040306-generic does not throw
this message and there are no problems with 4.3.6 while switching VT.
