Hi 
No an update/upgrade, I just OS installed was complete with default 
kernel(4.10.0-28) ,It's only happend in BIOS is Legacy mode(UEFI PASS)


After Update to v4.14 kernel still doesn't fix this issue.

We have tried more tested and verified,so far still not resolved this issue and 
but we have  workaround them commented "# set vt_handoff=vt.handoff=7"in 
grub.cfg ,It would can switch straight tty1.however,Do you known what's mean 
about gfxmode ? 
This issue always happened in PXE OS intaller

var/log/syslog.

Bug description:
  1. Setup system w/ NVMe full install
  2. Boot from PXE and install Ubuntu 16.04
  3. Check the NVMe detected at partition disk selection list.
  4. Not all the NVMe can be detected , and system cannot finished the 
installation.
  5. Pls refer to attachment only 3x NVMe detected.(800.2 GB x3 ;512.1 GB is 
M.2 device.)

  The system config:
  CPU:CPU,Skylake-EP,16 Core,2.4GHz,2666,B0,LGA 
3647,256KB/core,165W,22MB,QL28,949716,10.4GT/s,NA,NA,ES2,NA
  Storage:Intel P3700,SSDPE2MD800G4,PCI-e,800GB,Gen3 X4 U.2,2.5 - 15mm * 12

  alt-f1 displays the text mode screen OK.
