But still, WICD was not able to detect wireless and could able to scan the network only when network-manager was also present. Summary: If I boot with the kill switch off (i. e. wifi enabled), the kill switch works just fine. But if I boot with kill switch on (i. e. wifi disabled), changing the kill switch doesn't do anything and network-manager keeps insisting that the network is disabled.
