2017-08-24 Thread Matthew Gregg
Using 17.04 and get hangs/freezes when using this driver with a BCM4360
based card. Only seems to happen when connected at 5Ghz.

Title:
BCM4360 bcmwl-kernel-source System Freeze every few Seconds

Status in bcmwl package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Committed

Bug description:
Every newer version of bcmwl-kernel-source than 6.30.223.141+bdcom-
0ubuntu2 causes complete Freezes on my System every few Seconds.
Removing the wl module restores the system to its normal state.
Compiling the latest version 6.30.223.248 from the Broadcom STA Source
makes no difference as well as using the latest Mainline-Kernel. So
some of the changes between 6.30.223.141 and 6.30.223.248 must be
  responsible.

Version 6.30.223.248+bdcom-0ubuntu0.1 installs without any Errors but
as soon as the wl Module is loaded the Freezes occur. Dmesg shows
  nothing of note.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1575274] Re: System Crash during 16.04 Upgrade from 14.04

2016-04-27 Thread Matthew Gregg
@MeadeBaron any chance this machine has an Nvidia card? Had a similar
issue on one of my hosts with Nvidia. I was able to boot into an older
kernel from the Grub boot menu and upgraded the Nvidia driver from 340
to 361. Then the 4.4.0-21 kernel(current as of this post), would boot.

Title:
System Crash during 16.04 Upgrade from 14.04

Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
I was upgrading 2 machines from Trusty to Xenial. I had success on my
laptop...but had a system crash on my main machine running Ubuntu-
Studio 14.04. I have tried creating LIVE-USB's to reboot and repair
the install...but to no avail. No matter what I do I arrive at the
same "Call Trace" and "end Kernel panic - not syncing: Attempted to
  kill init! exit code=0x7f00" message.

The system freezes at that point and there is absolutely no forward
  movement from there.

HELP! My machine is completely crashed...I believe this is Ubuntu's
answer to the "Windows Blue Screen of Death".

Please advise how I can repair my Ubuntu Studio 16.04 installation.
  Thanks.
