[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1873677] Re: Lenovo Ideapad S145 - Touchpad not recognized at all

2020-08-10 Thread Niko
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1885573 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1885573

It is working now! Using kernel 5.4.0-42-generic and adding the
"i8042.nopnp=1 pci=nocrs" kernel parameters to grub made the touchpad
work.

(I also tried the solution proposed by Ferenc in Bug #1861610. It didn't
work, but I cannot be sure if only using the kernel parameter works, so
if it doesn't look there).

2020-08-09 Thread Niko
Hi Ferenc.
The device is listed exactly as you say: acpi:ELAN0633:PNP0C50:

How do I find the right module? Which modules are there? And how to load
it?

So gratefull you are helping!

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1885573] Re: Touchpad not recognized in laptop Lenovo Thinkbook 15-ILL (20SM000GPB)

2020-08-09 Thread Niko
I found the device with `ls /sys/bus/acpi/devices`, although it does not
appear in /proc/bus/input/devices

I found in Bug-Report #1853277 that Kai-Heng Feng stated "We are
currently working with Lenovo and it might take a while." Is that still
undergoing?

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1861610] Re: 'Elan touchpad' not detected on 'Lenovo ThinkBook 15 IIL'

2020-08-09 Thread Niko
@Frenec:
Ok, I simply commented out my lines:

Method (_STA, 0, NotSerialized) // _STA: Status
{
//   If ((TPTY == Zero))
//   {
//  Return (Zero)
//   }
//   Else
//   {
  Return (0x0F)
//   }
}

Then I follow your description with the new sed line. Instead of
<< find kernel | cpio -H newc --create > /boot/acpi_fixed.cpio
I had to do
<< find kernel | cpio -H newc --create > ./acpi_fixed.cpio
<< sudo  move acpi_fixed.cpio /boot
but that shouldn't change a thing, right?

Unfortunately, didn't work for me.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1861610] Re: 'Elan touchpad' not detected on 'Lenovo ThinkBook 15 IIL'

2020-08-09 Thread Niko
Hi Ferenc.
Tried your method. In /tmp/dsdt.dsl I found the HID of the touchpad: 0633 (!)

If ((TPTY == One))
{
   _HID = "ELAN0633"
   BADR = 0x15
   HID2 = One
   Return (Zero)
}

But then there is no "TPVD" to be found in the whole file. When
searching for "_STA" I find

Method (_STA, 0, NotSerialized) // _STA: Status
{
   If ((TPTY == Zero))
   {
  Return (Zero)
   }
   Else
   {
  Return (0x0F)
   }
}

Can you please help?

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1861610] Re: 'Elan touchpad' not detected on 'Lenovo ThinkBook 15 IIL'

2020-07-26 Thread Niko
There are allready a lot of duplicates to this buck, see bug 1885573, so
reposting is not necessary.
Still I am annoyed that the problem does not get fixed, because I would think
it is not a big think but it affects quite some people.

2020-07-06 Thread Niko
Bug 1885573 (https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1885573) marks this one as
duplicate, but installing kernel 5.7.1 or 5.7.7 didn't work (though I
couldn't install linux-headers).

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1520343] Re: Qualcomm Atheros wireless card [168c:003e] (rev 32) not supported

2016-01-24 Thread Niko Wenselowski
I got wifi working on a Acer Aspire V13 (v3-372) through the
instructions in #19. Thank you!

However I noticed that I am unable to connect to a secured (WPA PSK) 5GHz
network. dmesg shows that the authentication times out.
The non-5GHz version of the same network works fine.
Is this also related to the driver or do I need to look at another component?

Title:
  Qualcomm Atheros wireless card [168c:003e] (rev 32) not supported

Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  ---

  STATUS:

  Currently there is a fix for this problem in post #22 (originally post
  #19, but reposted due to command typos!) which seems to have fixed the
  issue for many. This bug is unique to revision 32 of the card
  [168c:003e], fixes for older revisions don't seem to work.

  There are a couple of issues regarding the fix for some people (not
  all):

  1. Wireless works, but network throughput stops some time after
  connecting to access point

  2. Bluetooth communications take a noticeable performance hit when
  transferring something over WiFi

  ---

  I have recently installed Ubuntu 15.10 (64-bit) alongside Windows 10 on an
Acer Aspire VN7-792G-76ZH and discovered, that the Qualcomm wireless card
doesn't work in it or 16.04.
  The card has the device id 168c:003e as many other cards, for example the
Qualcomm Atheros Killer
(https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1383184), but it has a
newer revision number (32) and the suggested fixes work only partially and the
wireless is unusable.

  The computer has just been released this summer and is Intel Skylake
  -based.

  I've tried the patch from bug 1383184, which has a fix for the card revision
20:
  Make the directory /lib/firmware/ath10k/QCA6174/hw3.0/ and put in the patch
files:
  board.bin
  firmware-4.bin
  notice_ath10k_firmware-4.txt

  ath10k_pci succeeds in loading the firmware, but it seems that the

2014-07-19 Thread Niko Nieminen
I have been on 3.16-rc5 several days now and have not experienced a single
disconnect.
I have been able to use my laptop without it being attached to the charging
cable all the time.

The problem seems to be fixed. Thank you.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1332871] Re: [Dell XPS 13 9333] Wifi drops on Intel Wireless 7260 when unplugged from charging cable.

2014-06-29 Thread Niko Nieminen
I did not use 12.04 which was preinstalled very long, but I think the problem
did NOT occur in that release.
My wireless hotspot is Netwjork 150mbps which is re-branded name for Tenda
W268R 4-Port Switch 150Mbps Wireless-N Broadband Router I think.
I am using 802.11 b/g/n mixed mode.
Now I reconfigured my AP to use only channel 11 instead of auto-select and only
mode 11g instead of mixed mode.
Distance from AP is about 5 meters there is one corner between the ap and my
laptop but nothing changes even if I bring my laptop next to router.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1332871] Re: Wifi drops on Intel Corporation Wireless 7260, on a Dell XPS 9333 when unplugged from charging cable.

2014-06-21 Thread Niko Nieminen
Before I posted this bug I had rebooted my Dell and with charging cable
plugged in I had wifi working for about 2 hours till it suddenly dropped
again and I got the following loop in my syslog:
http://paste.ubuntu.com/7681759/

I watched the loop for about 5 minutes and because it didn't seem to be
stopping in near future, I disabled my wifi and enabled it again, then
the signal was weak again for a couple of minutes until it recovered and
I got my connection back.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1330698] Re: [Dell XPS 9333] WiFi dropping on

2014-06-18 Thread Niko Nieminen
I have this issue also: Wifi drops randomly but I think it happens only when
I'm plugged off from the charging cable?
When I plug it back in the wifi works again.

I did debug the problem with ping and it seems that when I'm on battery
I do not receive some packets or I receive some with delay but as soon
as I plug the charging cable back I receive those missed packets with
huge delay.

When I plug off my charging cable my syslog shows:
Jun 18 22:34:07 xps kernel: [ 9584.125828] ahci :00:1f.2: port does not
support device sleep

And when I plug it in again I get:

support device sleep

And this happens only at my home. When I'm at the office, wifi works just fine.
With my previous laptop with Ubuntu installed I hadn't any problems with wifi
and my home router
It is Netwjork 150Mbps -router with WPA2 enabled and it's pretty old one but no
one else in my home is experiencing these kind of problems and there are 4
other people using the same wlan.

I already have A04 BIOS and sudo dmidecode -s bios-version sudo
dmidecode -s bios-release-date returns

Bug description:
  Wifi drops on Intel Corporation Wireless 7260, on a Dell XPS 9333.

  It happens on a D-Link DIR-625 but not on a Netgear WNDR4500 wireless

  connection stops responding every other minute, for minutes at a time.

  It seems if I leave my computer running the command ping 8.8.8.8 it
  will ping for roughly a minute, fine, and then stop, then resume, and
  so on.
