[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1242512] Re: 045e:0723 [Asus P8Z68-V LE] Webcam Microsoft LifeCam VX-7000 not detected

2014-06-25 Thread Ray Bittner
I found a solution to this bug, please see my post here:

http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=49t=170425

In short, you need to enable the UVC_QUIRK_PROBE_DEF quirk by following
these steps:

1. Unplug your webcam
2. Unload the uvcvideo module (sudo rmmod uvcvideo)
3. Reload the module with the quirks parameter set to 0x100 (sudo modprobe
uvcvideo quirks=0x100)
4. Replug your webcam

I checked and Linux Mint 16 Live USB does NOT have this problem:

[ 31.204251] uvcvideo: Found UVC 1.00 device
Microsoft\xffc2\xffae\xffae LifeCam VX-7000 (045e:0723)

[ 31.206547] usbcore: registered new interface driver uvcvideo
[ 31.206549] USB Video Class driver (1.1.1)

uname -r shows the kernel version for Linux Mint 16 live USB to be:
3.11.0-12-generic

I will reboot and get the kernel version for Linux Mint 17.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1242512] Re: 045e:0723 [Asus P8Z68-V LE] Webcam Microsoft LifeCam VX-7000 not detected

2014-06-12 Thread Ray Bittner
And for completeness, uname -r for Linux Mint 17 (where it does not work),
shows the kernel version as:
3.13.0-24-generic

I hope this helps, please let me know if you would like me to try
something else. It appears that the bug appeared sometime between
kernel version:

3.11.0-12-generic

and kernel version:

3.13.0-24-generic
