[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1462180] Re: Bad page map / bad pte

2015-06-20 Thread Ray Cole
I would be willing to run the kernel from it if I can obtain it
somewhere. It takes about a day to reproduce the problem. The first
symptom are things randomly crashing (google-chrome, for example) and
then not too long after I see messages about pte problems.

3.13.0-46 and below run fine. 3.13.0-49 and above crash. I have not
tried 3.13.0-48 but intend to do so in order to nail down which one
introduced the problem. It was either 3.13.0-48 or 3.13.0-49 that
introduced it (or -47, but that doesn't appear to be available so I
assume it was known to be bad).

2015-06-09 Thread Ray Cole
I have installed 4.1.0-040100rc7-generic and will see if this problem

I had fallen back to 3.13.0-45 and it ran over a week without the
problem. 3.13.0-49 produced the problem after only a few days. So
something between -45 and -49 caused the issue it seems.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1430756] Re: Bad page map / bad pte

2015-03-11 Thread Ray Cole
I'm not able to test upstream for the following reasons:
1) Version of nVidia video driver doesn't support 4.0
2) Version of VirtualBox, which I use to run a Windows 8.1 guest, doesn't
support 4.0

Without these two items I feel it would invalidate any attempt to
reproduce the problem as this would significantly change the load on the
machine.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1430756] Re: Bad page map / bad pte

2015-03-11 Thread Ray Cole
System is Linux Mint. This problem was running 3.16.0-31-generic. Went
back to 3.13.0-45-generic and so far the problem has not happened again.
If the system remains stable with 3.13.0-45 then I will attempt a prior
version of 3.16.0 to see if the problem was introduced by -31.

2014-12-16 Thread Ray Cole
I have not seen this happen since updating to 3.13.0-43 so perhaps this
was fixed somewhere along the way.
