[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1272765] Re: Xbox 360 wireless controller light continues blinking after sync with receiver

2015-07-10 Thread Sergio Benjamim
Same here, Xubuntu 14.04, tested with kernel 3.14.41 and 3.18.17.

I installed this steamos-xpad-dkms package, the light stop blink some
time, but after it start to rotate, like it's connecting again, and
then it stop again. It continues forever (kernel 3.18.17).

Title:
Xbox 360 wireless controller light continues blinking after sync with
  receiver

Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
  Triaged

Bug description:
I'm trying to use an Xbox 360 wireless gamepad with Ubuntu 13.10
64-bit (I've confirmed that this bug affects 14.04 as well). For
background, the 360 wireless controller uses a receiver (also made by
Microsoft) that plugs into a PC via USB. The controller syncs with
the receiver by pressing a button on both.

The xpad driver in the kernel seems to support most of its
functionality just fine, but the light on the controller continues
flashing forever after syncing with the receiver. Having a constant
blinking light on one's controller is annoying and makes the user
  experience feel sloppy.

As best I can tell, the version of the xpad driver in the mainline
kernel hasn't been touched in a few years. Valve, creators of Steam
and SteamOS, have done work on the driver recently and have fixed this
bug. (Ubuntu PPA for this driver here:
  https://launchpad.net/~mdeslaur/+archive/steamos )

It would be really nice if 14.04 and all future versions of Ubuntu could use
Valve's version of this driver, as it's the version being actively maintained.
Without it, gamers trying out Ubuntu will get a low impression of Ubuntu's
polish and support for gaming.

2014-09-25 Thread Sergio Benjamim
It seems that there is a workaround here:

http://dhanar10.blogspot.com.br/2014/05/bcm43142-bluetooth-getting-it-
to-work.html

So, is it missing a firmware binary in the package? The guy had to take
the binary from windows to get work.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1268833] Re: Wireless not working in 13.10 and 14.04 for rtl8192ce (RTL8188CE)/asus pce-n15

2014-03-20 Thread Sergio Benjamim
I installed kernel 3.14.0-031400rc7 from ubuntu mainline, and it is not
working too.

The git repo from this FreedomBen has not a branch for kernel 3.13 or
3.14, so it is useless to trusty (well, i don't know if it's possible to
use ubuntu-13.10 branch for trusty). And there is a issue reported, with
wifi connection ok but without internet connection:

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1263351] Re: 0489:e062 [Sony VAIO SVF1421C5E] Bluetooth adapter does not work with Broadcom driver

2014-01-02 Thread Sergio Benjamim
I'm using bcmwl-kernel-source 6.30.223.141+bdcom-0ubuntu2, with the
default kernel 3.12.0-7 in Trusty, without modifications. I was using
this package since the begin of the bug report. I didn't understand If
you switch your driver [...].

So, I'm trying to pair this laptop with the Galaxy Trend GT-S7560 and
other laptop (Asus R751JB using an adaptor dongle 0a5c:21e8 Broadcom
Corp. BCM20702A0 Bluetooth 4.0) and Sony VAIO SVF1421C5E does not find
both devices. And the devices not find this laptop too (yeah, I'm
leaving them visible).

Thanks for the support.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1263351] Re: 0489:e062 [Sony VAIO SVF1421C5E] Bluetooth adapter does not work with Broadcom driver

2014-01-02 Thread Sergio Benjamim
There broadcom-sta-common, broadcom-sta-source and broadcom-sta-dkms
packages in the repo. Are they related to this problem? They are not
installed.

I installed broadcom driver via Additional Drivers tab in the Software
 Updates.

Bios update from R0210DA to R0220DA (11/18/2013), but it does not work:

0489:e062 [Sony VAIO SVF1421C5E] Bluetooth adapter does not work with
  Broadcom driver

Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
This laptop has bluetooth 4.0, and it does not connect to a Galaxy
  Trend GT-S7560, Android 4.0.4, kernel 3.0.8-1224927.

The smartphone does not find the laptop, and ubuntu does not find
Galaxy Trend too. I tested with blueman, no chance.

  The bluetooth device is this:

ID 0489:e062 Foxconn / Hon Hai
idVendor 0x0489 Foxconn / Hon Hai

   Kernel driver in use: bcma-pci-bridge

  hcitool dev
  Devices:
   hci0 3C:77:E6:D9:F2:88

It seems that firmware was not loaded:

Someone did a patch to broadcom driver, and it works:

  but it did not work.

I can connect this smartphone in other laptop (Itautec Infoway W7415) with

themselves.

wifi+bluetooth

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1065400] Re: Support for loading Broadcom bluetooth firmware

2013-12-22 Thread Sergio Benjamim
Hello, there is a Sony Vaio with this device:

0489:e062 Foxconn / Hon Hai (BCM43142A0)

Wifi works, but Bluetooth does not. So, this is a problem with firmware
load? More info in bug #1263351

Bug description:
Broadcom bluetooth chips require a tool called patchram uploader [1]
to load firmware. This applies to at least BCM20702 and BCM43142.
Although some of the devices have an OTPROM that contains required
firmware, but it is found that these devices would not have HFP/HSP
support unless a upgraded firmware is loaded via patchram uploader.

This tool requires hci device to do the firmware loading, but this may
cause some race condition between patchram tool and bluetoothd or
something that also works on hci interface.

Also it needs some hooks to make firmware loads after bootup, s3, s4,
rfkill, and device hotplug events. Implement this loader in kernel
module would make things more easier.

Title:
Bluetooth does not connect to a Galaxy Trend

Status in “bluez” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
This laptop has bluetooth 4.0, and it does not connect to a Galaxy
  Trend GT-S7560, Android 4.0.4, kernel 3.0.8-1224927.

Laptop hardware (Sony Vaio Fit E): http://pastebin.com/Ggc719EK

The smartphone does not find the laptop, and ubuntu does not find
Galaxy Trend too. I tested with blueman, no chance.

  The bluetooth device is this:

ID 0489:e062 Foxconn / Hon Hai

I can connect this smartphone in other laptop (Itautec Infoway W7415)
with xubuntu trusty, and it is very easy, both xubuntu and galaxy
  trend find themselves.
