[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1933880] Re: systemd-logind crash when suspend with nvidia-suspend.service masked, bringing session down with it
Can confirm that removing the .service files in /etc/systemd/system/systemd-suspend.service.requires works. The reason this occurred to me is because i switched GPU from nvidia to AMD, and some programs thought I have nvenc (because the library is installed) when i don't, which necessitates the removal of the nvidia- driver packages. This seem like an issue with one of the nvidia package's postrm debian package scripts as opposed to systemd, tho. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to nvidia-graphics-drivers-465 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1933880 Title: systemd-logind crash when suspend with nvidia-suspend.service masked, bringing session down with it Status in nvidia-graphics-drivers-465 package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in systemd package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: Steps to reproduce: 1. Run `sudo apt install nvidia-driver-465`. Then, without a need for a restart, run `sudo apt autoremove nvidia-driver-465`. 2. Leaving the terminal open, suspend the machine. Expected behavior: the machine suspend successfully and can be woken up successfully. Actual behavior: the machine doesn't suspend. It either: - hang with no respond other than SysRq+REISUB (or maybe network, but I didn't test), or - return you back to the login screen. Upon logging in, you'll notice that the terminal you opened is gone. Upon further inspection (on a session that doesn't hang), it's been found that X server died with: Fatal server error: [66.422] (EE) systemd-logind disappeared (stopped/restarted?) And checking journal for systemd-logind log, it said: Error during inhibitor-delayed operation (already returned success to client): Unit nvidia-suspend.service is masked. before the new process takes it place. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1824559] Re: Lenovo Yoga mouse is slow & laggy in bluetooth mode (low polling frequency)

This mouse has 2 working mode either bluetooth or with a provided usb dongle. USB dongle works fine, but bluetooth don't. Cursor is slow and laggy. I tried different howto suggesting to change usbhid mousepoll value => does not help. The mouse seems handled by btusb module, not usbhid (modprobe -r usbhid killed my other mouse, but not the lenovo, while modprobe -r btusb killed the lenovo). I tried 2 laptops (XPS9370 with 18.04, kernel 4.18 and kernek 5.07 and an older dell Precision M6400 16.04 kernel 4.15). So I have issues on 2/3 of my tested devices, running different kernel + different version of ubuntu. I don't want to confirm this because Im beginning to suspect that this is not a kernel issue at all, but some sort of configuration issue (probably default configuration of certain services), given the regularity (every n seconds exactly). [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1509111] Re: Hard lockup but certain UI elements keeps changing
Back on 4.2.0-18-generic. Experience this once per day. Screen keeps changing but no more response to any input. May just be hardware giving out. ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Invalid => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1509111 Title: Hard lockup but certain UI elements keeps changing Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: I recently upgraded to Wily and I discovered that my system hard freezes about 2-3 times a day. This is the usual: unresponsive keyboard (including magic sysrq), unresponsive USB, no response to pings over the network, music/audio loops, as well as no evidence of errors in syslog, kern.log, Xorg.log. However, there's one very unusual aspect of this lockup: I have an on screen clock to the second and when the lockup occurs, the clock keeps ticking by the second! This means that code must be executing somewhere... This happened all but one occurance of hard freeze, where the clock also froze. In fact, I was on Facebook at one point and saw that I was disconnected. The facebook UI then followed up with the animation of "Reconnecting... 10... 9... 8...". I feel like posting here is a very long shot, but maybe someone else has something similar. Next time this happens I'll try to hook this machine to ethernet to see if there's any response and try to ssh into it. I could also write a program that writes to syslog every 5 seconds and see if those get written when the machine is "locked up". Not sure what else I can do at this point. I can also memtest or play kernel roulette with mainline, but the machine was previously stable on utopic (with BIOS instead of UEFI boot, tho). Marking this as invalid for now. I've observed one additional event on 4.3 and now I'm back on 4.2-18 and haven't noticed this for a couple of days. Black screen on resume when using standby on close lid is confirmed on Dell Latitude D400 on completely new install of Xubuntu 14.04.1 32 bit. downloaded 14 Aug from repository as a .ISO image. This despite claims to the contrary on the website. http://xubuntu.org/news/xubuntu-14-04-1-released/ pointing to https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xubuntu-default- settings/+bug/1303736 Using the Suspend key results in correct operation, i.e. the laptop suspends and resumes correctly on lid open. Suspending by closing the laptop lid results in the black screen when re-opening. Once in black screen mode, the only recourse is power off re-boot. Although power manager is set correctly to Suspend in the power manager , on closing the lid the system does NOT appear to suspend as it does when the Log-off Suspend button is clicked or the hardware Suspend key is pressed i.e. the problem APPEARS to be on lid close. Power manager and light-locker set NOT to lock on suspend or shutdown makes no difference to behaviour. Xubuntu up to 12.04.4 (plus latest updates) worked absolutely correctly before new install of 14.04.1 This is a MAJOR inconvenience for an upgrade of an LTS. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1236653] Re: Graphics performance reduced after playing games for a little bit
So I think I have an idea of what is happening.. Here's my sensors output: acpitz-virtual-0 Adapter: Virtual device temp1:+56.0°C (crit = +98.0°C) thinkpad-isa- Adapter: ISA adapter fan1:1978 RPM coretemp-isa- Adapter: ISA adapter Physical id 0: +57.0°C (high = +86.0°C, crit = +100.0°C) Core 0: +50.0°C (high = +86.0°C, crit = +100.0°C) Core 1: +53.0°C (high = +86.0°C, crit = +100.0°C) pkg-temp-0-virtual-0 Adapter: Virtual device temp1:+57.0°C The high temperature is at 86C. I notice the performance drop at around 87C. (Still need to try to reproduce it again...) The CPU clock frequency is not modified at 87C. The characteristics of the performance drop is consistent with a lowered Clock modulation, something I've seen in programs that controls the CPU on windows. Now this did not happen on a previous version of Linux. Previously when I hit about 95C (which apparently is quite common for these laptops after about 1-2 years of usage), the CPU frequency will be restricted to 800MHz, which would be the lowest frequency available. So I'm not exactly sure what the best fix for this would be, or where the regression happened. While 95C does not seem like a good idea, it is actually quite easy, at least for me, to hit 87C on these thinkpads, even after cleaning it out, replacing the thermal paste (multiple times with no difference in results), and so forth. I will try to get myself a fan mat and see if that helps things sometime soon and confirm that this is indeed the issue. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1236653 Title: Graphics performance reduced after playing games for a little bit Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: I recently upgraded to Saucy. Does anyone here notice graphics slow down? After a couple minutes of game play with CSS, my framerate would drop to about 20fps (status of other activities on the computer will also slowdown). This did not happen in 13.04 but is occuring with 13.10. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1041790 Title: [snb] GPU lockup IPEHR: 0x0b160001 IPEHR: 0x0b140001, workaround i915.semaphores=0 Status in X.org xf86-video-intel: Confirmed Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in “sandybridge-meta” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in “xserver-xorg-video-intel” package in Ubuntu: Triaged Bug description: X locks up periodically for a 2 to ten seconds at a time and this crash log gets generated. It's significantly more than several times a day but not quite continuous. Temporarily disabiling semaphores seems to eliminate the problem. E.g.: $ sudo -s # echo 0 /sys/modules/i915/parameters/semaphores [Workaround] 1. Edit your /etc/default/grub file. 2. Change this line: GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT=quiet splash to GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT=quiet splash i915.semaphores=0 3. Then run sudo update-grub 4. And reboot If you indeed have this bug, that should stop the lockups from happening. If it doesn't, then file a new bug report. Side Effects: Rendering throughput is dropped by 10% with SNA, or as much as 3x with UXA. OpenGL performance is likely to be reduced by about 30%. More CPU time is spent waiting for the GPU with rc6 disabled, so increased power consumption.
