Yesterday my distribution updated to Ubuntu 18.04.3 and thanks to the
new kernel the touchpad is recognized and perfectly working.

Title:
Teclast F6 Pro touchpad not recognized Ubuntu 18.04.2

Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Released
Status in linux source package in Cosmic:
  Won't Fix

Bug description:
I have just bought a new laptop from Teclast model F6 Pro. I have
installed Ubuntu LTS 18.04.2 (kernel 4.18.0-16-generic).

The Goodix touchpad of the laptop is not recognized by the kernel
version used by Ubuntu LTS 18.04.2.

  That is my kernel error:

  [3.733842] i2c_hid i2c-SYNA3602:00: i2c-SYNA3602:00 supply vdd not found,
using dummy regulator
  [3.738296] i2c_hid i2c-SYNA3602:00: unexpected HID descriptor bcdVersion
(0x)

The problem is known, it is described here:
  https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1526312

  A patch is available here:
  https://github.com/brotfessor/sipodev/blob/master/b/i2c-hid.c

It looks like that patch entered in the mainline kernel since 4.20 (or
  4.19 I am not sure).

It would be very helpful if that patch is added to Ubuntu 18.04.2 LTS
4.18.0-16-generic kernel to help the users of Teclast laptops like me.

On several Teclast laptops the touchpad is not supported on Unbuntu
  18.04.2 (for sure F6 pro and F7).

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1820760] Re: Teclast F6 Pro touchpad not recognized Ubuntu 18.04.2

2019-05-17 Thread Simone Pernice
Hello Po-Hsu Lin,

Thank you very much for your support.

I understand you do not want to risk damaging already working devices
with a so big change on a LTS release.

I use Ubuntu for my job, I need a rock solid system. Therefore I prefer
to use a standard more reliable GE kernel and use an external USB mouse
on my laptop.

In my new Teclast laptop I installed 18.04.2, therefore it should
automatically updated to the new kernel with the touchpad fix on the
next point release: 18.04.3. I think that should happen on
August/September. At that time I will throw away the external mouse to
go back to the laptop touchpad.

Thank you very much for all your efforts.

Best Regards,
Simone

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1820760] Re: Teclast F6 Pro touchpad not recognized Ubuntu 18.04.2

2019-05-03 Thread Simone Pernice
Dear Po-Hsu Lin,

The kernel 4.18.0-18 was officially released. It does not have your
patch (my touch-pad does not work).

Could I know on which kernel for Ubuntu 18.04 will be applied your
patch, please?

Thank you,
Simone

Status in Linux:
  New
Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
The Goodix GF3208 is not being recognised by the system (Dell Inspiron
15 7577). What's worse is that it isn't even showing the manufacturer
  vendor id information when doing:

  $ lsusb
Bus 002 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0003 Linux Foundation 3.0 root hub
  Bus 001 Device 004: ID 27c6:5301

Bus 001 Device 002: ID 046d:c52f Logitech, Inc. Unifying Receiver
Bus 001 Device 005: ID 0bda:5652 Realtek Semiconductor Corp.
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub

Note that the vendor id 27c6 should at least say "Shenzhen Huiding
  Technology Co., Ltd." as per

https://github.com/torvalds/linux/blob/e19b205be43d11bff638cad4487008c48d21c103/Documentation/devicetree/bindings
  /vendor-prefixes.txt

Will/has support been made for the Goodix GF3208 Fingerprint
  reader/scanner?

  Thanks in advance,
  Haz
