[Kernel-packages] [Bug 2039378] Re: Screen goes blank

2023-10-18 Thread ubuntu user
Sorry for being late I just ran the command and sent the report. forgot
to mention that I had problem with the keyboard too after the login. in
order to send the report I went back to the kernel with the bug
5.15.0-86-generic (hopefully send valuable report) and choose cinnamon
software rendering.

Title:
  Screen goes blank

Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
Screen goes blank after the desktop environment gets loaded. I use the
cinnamon desktop. After I type in the user password at the display-manager to
login, the desktop shows for 1 second and then the screen goes blank. I solved
the problem through switching the desktop to cinnamon (software rendering) at
the display-manager and then installed 6.2.0-34-generic instead of 5.15.0-86 to
be able to use the normal cinnamon desktop again.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1812128] Re: No IRQ handler for Vector

2020-04-23 Thread Ubuntu User
Wow, this is really old. I am sorry for the lack of information. The
built-in system is obviously flawed, as previously noted. Further, I no
longer use Xubuntu, and have been very happy moving to Debian for a long
time now. No more errors and screw-ups from trying to reinvent the
wheel, and no more bad tech support.

Thanks anyway.

Juhani, thank you so much. I am so sorry for that mistake. You are
quite correct; it should have been IRQ. I wrote it down and was trying
to hurry before I missed the message. Shame on me. That makes a huge
amount of difference and I will change the title.

Thanks again for catching that.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1413659] Re: Precision Touchpad does not work in Ubuntu 14.04.1 LTS after installing ubuntu on new Acer Aspire E 13 ES1-311C03V

2016-03-08 Thread john q ubuntu-user
It is an Acer problem. Here is a fix that worked for me.

Reboot and hold F2. You'll be in BIOS.
Under Main, go to Touchpad.
It will be on Advanced. You should change it to Basic.
Save changes and exit.
Your touchpad should work.

Title:
Precision Touchpad does not work in Ubuntu 14.04.1 LTS after
installing ubuntu on new Acer Aspire E 13 ES1-311C03V

Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
  Expired

Bug description:
On my new Acer Aspire E 13 ES1-311C03V i installed a dual boot with
  Ubuntu 14.04

The touchpad (labeled as PRECISION TOUCHPAD on the sticker on the
computer) works fine on windows 8, but not in ubuntu (from the
beginning). In windows everything works, but in Ubuntu it does not
  respond at all.

An external mouse does work fine, it is only the touchpad that does
  not work.

  https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingTouchpadDetection#generalinfo
instructs to attatch ~/dmesg, ~/devices, and /var/log/Xorg.0.lo but
launchpad only allows one attatchement so i will combine them in an
  archive.

Any help/soludion/fix will be much appreciated, as i have been using
ubuntu for years now on previous computers, and i would really regret
it having to change back to windows because the touchpad is not
  working on my new laptop.

EDIT: after searching even more on the internet i found a work around for
similar types of laptops: echo "blacklist i2c_hid" | sudo tee -a
/etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf
Afterwards i rebooted but the touchpad still did not work, but when i shut
down my computer later and restarted is a second time the touchpad started
working! So i guess that is because of this work around.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1536076] [NEW] Missing export symbol for mtrr_add and mtrr_del

2016-01-20 Thread Ubuntu user
Public bug reported:

I try to use the 4.4 Kernel from the ppa git.

So if i complie the current fglrx driver all is fine but on modules
load i get the error that the symbols

mtrr_del
mtrr_add

are missing.
I saw a patch for 4.3 for Nvidia facing the same issue.

Could you integrate the patch in the kernel ?
