[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1624722] Re: DHCPv6 does not work in Hyper-V

2020-10-03 Thread VF
It was a problem with that Hyper-V version, some DHCPv6 related packet
was dropped somehow. Microsoft fixed it in a later version and it
started working. You can close this bug.

Title:
DHCPv6 does not work in Hyper-V

Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
When using Ubuntu (in this case the live 16.04.1 LTS ISO) as a
  Generation 2 (Gen1 untested) Hyper-V VM, an IPv6 address can't be
gotten through DHCPv6. dhclient continues to send out solicitations
but they never result in a response. I've looked on the router end
(running AdvancedTomato and dnsmasq) and the router is getting the
requests and is sending out a advertisement, but the VM never gets it.
Using the exact same live ISO works in VirtualBox so I've convinced it
is an issue with the Hyper-V network driver or something along those
  lines.

The only IPv6 address that is configured automatically is the fe80
  link-local address.

Windows VMs and older Linux VMs (Debian jessie with 3.16 kernel) work
just fine and receive an IPv6 via DHCPv6.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1654088] Re: Video decoding was stuck with radeon errors in dmesg while playing back a movie with VLC

2017-01-04 Thread VF
It is an old home server from around 2010:

HP Proliant MicroServer ML110 G6

No official information can be found on this config, but I found a blog
posts showcasing this same box:

http://techhead.co/new-hp-proliant-microserver-a-decent-vsphere-lab-
server-candidate/

http://www.vbrain.info/2012/08/07/hp-microserver-n40l-home-lab-server-
ml110-g67-comparision/

The RadeOn GPU is not part of the original configuration. I installed
that to be able to play back video with it, integrated graphics would be
too slow for full HD decoding.

This machine has been running Windows 7 for 2 years in this same
configuration with no problems, so I'm pretty sure the hardware is good.
(Only addition is the external USB HDD, but I can disconnect it and re-
test if that's suspicious. The video is not played back from that device
anyway.)

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1654088] Re: Video decoding was stuck with radeon errors in dmesg while playing back a movie with VLC

2017-01-04 Thread VF
Video playback was from a separate HDD attached on a SATA 2 port. It is
not a fast machine (HP Microserver with dual core Atom CPU), but there
are no problems playing back this same video in Ubuntu's default video
player. It breaks only in VLC somehow. It seems to be related to how VLC
is using the GPU to decode the video, it might trigger a bug in the
kernel code.

Title:
radeon GPU lockup when using VLC and Firefox

Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
  Expired

Bug description:
When playing a video with VLC and running Firefox at the same time,
the radeon driver consistently (reproducibly) locks up and crashes on
my machine since upgrading to 16.04. I'm using a Radeon HD 6870.

This does not happen with other video players (totem, mpv). Tested
with different video codecs and different window managers (gnome-
  shell, metacity).

When VLC starts, the following message is printed to dmesg:

  [ 102.379520] [drm:btc_dpm_set_power_state [radeon]] *ERROR*
  rv770_restrict_performance_levels_before_switch failed

This is not the case with Totem.
When Firefox is started, or if Firefox had been running in the first place, a
few seconds later it locks up:

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1574130] Re: radeon GPU lockup when using VLC and Firefox

2017-01-03 Thread VF
I had this issue happening twice while playing a video in VLC this
evening. I will try to reproduce it and execute apport-collect 1574130
to collect debugging information.
