Title:
Belkin Thunderbolt 2 Express Dock HD display port hot plug not
  supported.

Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
  Triaged

Bug description:
Peripheral: Belkin Thunderbolt 2 Express Dock HD. Model: F4U085

  1. When booted without the dock connected, connecting the dock only
allows USB and Ethernet to work, it does not support HDMI or
DisplayPort monitors. Re-seating the dock from here does not stop USB
  and Ethernet from working.

  2. When booted with the device connected, while the device works fine,
reseating the dock causes no adapters to work (No USB, Ethernet, HDMI
  and DisplayPort)

This bug was generated with the Thunderbolt IO expander connected at boot
time and therefore all IO is working as intended.
Also (manually) attached is a copy of syslog, lsmod and lspci where the dock
is removed then re-attached.

The 3rd state where the system is booted without the doc is not
accounted for in the attached logs.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1654214] Re: Belkin Thunderbolt 2 Express Dock HD display port hot plug not supported.

2017-01-11 Thread dunk
I have the same symptoms with 4.10.0-041000rc3-generic .

I've attaches a copy of syslog which records the system booting with the
Thunderbolt attached, then being removed and re-inserted.

Search for the annotations in the syslog file:
syslog_boot_with_thunderbolt_then_reseat:
"Removing Thunderbolt"
"Replacing Thunderbolt"
"Done with Thunderbolt"

duncan@relapse:~$ uname -a

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1551712] Re: Belkin Thunderbolt 2 Express Dock HD display port hot plug not supported.

2017-01-10 Thread dunk
Same symptoms with 4.10.0-041000rc3-generic

I've attaches a copy of syslog which records the system booting with the
Thunderbolt attached, then being removed and re-inserted.

Search for the annotations in the syslog file:
syslog_boot_with_thunderbolt_then_reseat:
"Removing Thunderbolt"
"Replacing Thunderbolt"
"Done with Thunderbolt"

Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  MachineType: Apple Inc. MacBookPro12,5
Peripheral: Belkin Thunderbolt 2 Express Dock HD. Model: F4U085

  [Text copied from bug/1551712]
  1. When booted without the dock connected, connecting the dock only allows
USB and Ethernet to work, it does not support HDMI or DisplayPort monitors.
Re-seating the dock from here does not stop USB and Ethernet from working.

(search for the annotation "Removing Thunderbolt"
and "Inserting Thunderbolt".)

The 3rd state where the system is booted without the doc is not
accounted for in the attached logs.

Please let me know if you want any more information.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1654214] [NEW] Belkin Thunderbolt 2 Express Dock HD display port hot plug not supported.

2017-01-05 Thread dunk
Public bug reported:

MachineType: Apple Inc. MacBookPro12,5
Peripheral: Belkin Thunderbolt 2 Express Dock HD. Model: F4U085

[Text copied from bug/1551712]
1. When booted without the dock connected, connecting the dock only allows USB
and Ethernet to work, it does not support HDMI or DisplayPort monitors.
Re-seating the dock from here does not stop USB and Ethernet from working.

2. When booted with the device connected, while the device works fine,
reseating the dock causes no adapters to work (No USB, Ethernet, HDMI
and DisplayPort)

This bug was generated with the Thunderbolt IO expander connected at boot time
and therefore all IO is working as intended.
Also (manually) attached is a copy of syslog, lsmod and lspci where the dock is
removed then re-attached. (search for the annotation "Removing Thunderbolt" and
"Inserting Thunderbolt".)

The 3rd state where the system is booted without the doc is not
accounted for in the attached logs.

Please let me know if you want any more information.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1551712] Re: Belkin Thunderbolt 2 Express Dock HD display port hot plug not supported.

2017-01-03 Thread dunk
i can confirm i'm seeing identical symptoms on the same hardware:

1. When booted without the dock connected, connecting the dock only
allows USB and Ethernet to work, it does not support HDMI or DisplayPort
monitors. Re-seating the dock from here does not stop USB and Ethernet
from working.

2. When booted with the device connected, while the device works fine,
reseating the dock causes no adapters to work (No USB, Ethernet, HDMI
and DisplayPort)

Title:
Belkin Thunderbolt 2 Express Dock HD display port hot plug not
  supported.

Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
There are two problems when using this dock:

  1. When booted, connecting the dock only allows USB and Ethernet to work, it
does not support HDMI or DisplayPort monitors
  2. When booted with the device connected, while the device works fine,
reseating the dock causes no adapters to work (No USB, Ethernet, HDMI and
DisplayPort)

This makes this dock and other Thunderbolt docks unusable, because I
  can't hotplug it correctly.
