[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1049466] Re: Need support of Ralink RT3290 wifi support

2013-11-03 Thread giardia
On my HP650 happened the same for comment #134. wifi and bluetooth
worked fine, with good signal and working button, until kernel 3.2.0-54
on ubuntu 12.04 LTS 64-bit. From 3.2.0-54 problems begins.

I have ubuntu preinstalled on this laptop and i have a repository named: /main
(hp.archive.canonical.com) that contain packages like:
rt3290bt-dkms rt3290bt driver in DKMS format.
oem-wireless-rt2x00-1044172-dkms and so on that are Manteined by Canonical OEM
Services solutions-gr...@lists.canonical.com

Maybe we should contact them or backport the driver in 3.2.0-54 to
recent kernels.

or check http://hp.archive.canonical.com/dists/

greetings

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1244478] Re: [HP 650 Notebook PC] Kernel 3.2.0-55 is missing driver rt2800pci for Ralink RT3290 Wireless (unclaimed)

2013-11-02 Thread giardia
HP releasing only windows file .exe to update the BIOS, so is bit difficult now
to upgrade as i have only ubuntu on this HP 650.
Btw you think this bug can be considered a duplicate of this?
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1049466/

new bios just fix some windows related problems, so maybe is just an
issue with the wifi module version or dkms Dynamic Kernel Module
Support?

the linked bug can have the final solution to make the wifi work with
new kernels out of the box?

and: http://forum.ubuntuusers.de/topic/nach-update-kein-wlan-
mehr-433/2/#post-5641297

btw is an updated bios is always good, i'll try to upgrade and report as
asked. thanks

2013-10-25 Thread giardia
tested the suggested mainline kernel. wireless is not unclaimed with
this kernel (recognized with lshw) but wifi is not working properly,
icon always flashing and requesting for the wpa passphrase but never
connects. also bluetooth not available! to have wifi and bluetooth
working i have to use again 3.2.0-54.82 kernel.

i got some error messages installing the mainline kernel headers,
probably about wireless modules, so i'll attache file make.log

afaik the bug is not fixed in the mainline kernel
