[Kernel-packages] [Bug 883305] Re: Brightness key combinations for adjustment don't work on netbook Samsung N210/N230
** Tags removed: oneiric ** Tags added: raring -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/883305 Title: Brightness key combinations for adjustment don't work on netbook Samsung N210/N230 Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: As advised in bug #645624 I open a new bug on this issue. I just performed a complete format and fresh installation of 11.10 and the keys used to adjust the screen birghtness still don't work. The keys I use are : Fn + arrow up = increase brightness Fn + arrow down = decrease brightness Fn + F5 = toggle backlight I also noted that Fn + F9, wich should toggle the wifi network adapter, does not work also. It look like bug #296489 but I'm not sure. I have still to experience the flickering effect mentioned in bug 810093 so I think it's not the same bug. It's always reproducible. Proposed solution: The samsung-laptop module is not loaded automatically since the kernel fail to identify the platform it run on. I think this issue is the one described in bug #36082 on the kernel bugtracker (can't access it atm, I think the bugzilla has yet to be restored). The fact is that the N2320 netbook identify itself as N150/N210/N220/N230 but the three other N150, N210 and N220 identify themselves as N150/N210/N220 only. This is confirmed by running modprobe samsung-laptop, which result in : FATAL: Error inserting samsung_laptop (/lib/modules/3.0.0-12-generic/kernel/drivers/platform/x86/samsung-laptop.ko): No such device Also the samsung-laptop module is not in the lsmod result. (cf. attachement). The patch I send, look at the previously mentioned kernel ticket, fixed this issue for me but I wasn't able to test the control back then. This patch have been pushed to stable few days ago. --- AlsaVersion: Advanced Linux Sound Architecture Driver Version 1.0.24. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1191334] Re: 045e:0745 A wrong hardware detection seems to crash Xorg
The command require your password as it has sudo in front of it (and it will not work without sudo). The command was not meant to create any files to your home folder, instead the output should appear in the terminal after you press the Enter key. Could you please copy and paste the output from the terminal as a comment to this report? Thanks. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1191334 Title: 045e:0745 A wrong hardware detection seems to crash Xorg Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Status in “xserver-xorg-input-synaptics” package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: A wrong hardware detection seems to crash Xorg.
