[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1821663] Re: [regression][snd_hda_codec_realtek] repeating crackling noise after 19.04 upgrade

2019-04-03 Thread venturia
@Hui: I've installed the package as per comment #19 (sorry for the typo at #20)
and this has fixed the problem.
I've skipped the instructions at #12. Do you need additional tests?

Title:
  [regression][snd_hda_codec_realtek] repeating crackling noise after
  19.04 upgrade

Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
I'm experiencing a repeating crackling noise after 19.04 upgrade that
start just after the boot and before the login.

I tried a bunch of fixes for pulseaudio I found googling, including this one
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/PulseAudio/Troubleshooting#Glitches.2C_skips_or_crackling
   and this one
https://askubuntu.com/questions/864608/audio-crackle-through-headphones.
Neither of which helped.

The command "killall pulseaudio" usually stop the noise for 10
  seconds, then the noise restart.

The system was running smoothly on 18.10

"Do you mean that you installed the deb of #7 in the kernel-rc3, there
is no noise, while installed the deb of #7 in the kernel-rc4, still has
noise?" === yes

Attached you can find the two alsa file. I've compared the two files and
I sow a difference in power_save setting: this PC is not able to suspend
and resume. I saw many ACPI error while the system is booting.

2017-11-27 Thread venturia
No you cannot: the system dead evenif the HD is spinning. The only way
to restart the desktop is to unplug and then replug the power cable from
the socket.

I'm still curious to understand the reason for the 12 ACPI errors that
I'm experiency at any bootstrap: Should this be linked to my issue?

Wait for your next test request.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1730762] Re: 17.10 - suspend/resume failure

2017-11-20 Thread venturia
I've tested all the following 64bit versions:

version before 3.13 were not starting
version 3.14 and 3.15 were starting only with x.org
for 3.16 and above start with wayland or xorg.

That said, all the 64 bit version fail in managing the suspend resume.

Using the old 14.04.1 32 bit from CD works fine. I don't how to test all the
other 32 bit version. The bios is not able to start from USB and that make
everything hard to test.

How I can support you?

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1730762] Re: 17.10 - suspend/resume failure - kernel-bug-exists-upstream

2017-11-16 Thread venturia
I've done the test as described but this didn't fix the issue.

While booting I've seen some ACPI error as per the attached image
https://photos.app.goo.gl/YTZxkq7T2N4SiBGb2

I've tried all the different 4.14.0-041400 kernels: all of them fail in
handling correctly the resume step.

The main difference with the previous kernel is that the mouse seem to
resume - I sow the red of the leds, but having the screeen black I've no
idea about the correct functionality.

Suspend/resume was working correctly in 14.04, 14.10, 15.04 32 bit
version.

Let me know how I can assist you.

Thanks for taking care of this issue.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1730762] [NEW] 17.10 - suspend/resume failure

2017-11-07 Thread venturia
Public bug reported:

I'm experiencing a failure in the resume process after the suspend. When
I try to resume the system start, but the screen stay black while the
disk seem be really busy.

The only way to exit from this status is unplug the system before
restart it.

Let me know how to collect additional info (if necessary).

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1720557] Re: System freeze on attempt to suspend

2017-10-13 Thread venturia
I don't know if the issue is exactly the same but on my desktop the
suspend resume cycle doesn't work properly.

1. New install of 17.10 beta 2 on Packard Bell IMedia 5204. Nvidia gpu and
using wayland (enabled by default)
2. Select top right menu, hold alt, select suspend button. The desktop goes in
"suspend" state (power button is light on suspend, fans are off).

When try to resume pushing the power button, I've black screen, hard
disk spinning forever and desktop doesn't resume.

I can't any crash reported in /var/crash related to this issue.

There is anything I can do to help in debug?

System freeze on attempt to suspend

Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  1. New install of 17.10 beta 2 on XPS 13 9350. Intel gpu and using wayland
(enabled by default)
  2. Select top right menu, hold alt, select suspend button

I expect the laptop to suspend. Instead the screen goes blank. The
laptop remained on (power button is light, fans are on). The laptop is
unresponsive until hard reboot (holding down power button). A
  suspended state is never reached.

The laptop previously suspended fine on 17.04.
