[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1202405] Re: System freeze after update from 3.2.0-43
This is a DKMS problem. It was compiling using the current running kernel, i.e. the old one, rather than using the new kernel. I removed all headers except for latest kernel and it still compiled against old kernel. Eventually had to blacklist module for telephony card so I could boot into new kernel without it hanging. Then did dpkg-reconfigure dahdi-dkms which then compiled against current running kernel, the correct one now. Then unblacklisted module and rebooted, all worked OK. Not sure if this is a general DKMS problem or just the dahdi package. Not sure how to categorise this bug now but I am working again now. ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => Confirmed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1202405 Title: System freeze after update from 3.2.0-43 Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: If I boot on 3.2.0-43 kernel all works, any later kernels freeze. i have HP ProlIant ML110 G6 server running 12.04 LTS. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1202405] Re: System freeze after update from 3.2.0-43
Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest v3.11 kernel[0]. If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'. If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag: 'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'. If you are unable to test the mainline kernel, for example it will not boot, please add the tag: 'kernel-unable-to-test-upstream'. Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as "Confirmed". Thanks in advance.
