Title:
Multiple monitors no longer working on zenbook ux31e

Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  Running up-to-date Saucy.

Just recently (within the last couple of days) my Asus Zenbook lost
the ability to support two displays.

If I boot with an external display (via mini-vga port) it will work,
but the internal panel will not. If I boot without the external
display, the internal panel works fine, but hot-plugging the external
  panel does nothing.

If I check System Settings / Displays using the external monitor, I
only see my external monitor, although Displays reports it as Built-
  in Display.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1203540] Re: Multiple monitors no longer working on zenbook ux31e

2013-07-21 Thread Chris Wilson
This parameter 'drm.vblankoffdelay=1' does not exist in your kernel and
so specifying it causes the DRM driver not to load. Strongly suggests a
miscompilation of the kerne or a failure to build the right initramfs,
since that parameter has existed since 2.6.38 and is still present in
3.10.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1203540] Re: Multiple monitors no longer working on zenbook ux31e

2013-07-21 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Mark Russell, as per
http://www.asus.com/Notebooks_Ultrabooks/ASUS_ZENBOOK_UX31E/#support_Download_8
an update is available for your BIOS (214). If you update to this, does
it change anything?

If not, could you please both specify what happened, and provide the output of
the following terminal command:
sudo dmidecode -s bios-version sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date

Thank you for your understanding.

** Tags added: bios-outdated-214 needs-upstream-testing regression-
