[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1219789] Re: [Toshiba NB100-11J] 3.2.0-52-generic freezes

2013-09-11 Thread Gerard van Drielen
I didn't upgrade my LTS version on my server. Instead I used a bootable USB
stick with the ISO image on it.
I tried the 'live' option for over an hour. No problems !

Allthough this test is somewhat compromised (not all of the software I
use was loaded) I think the result is promising.

What kernel is used by Saucy ?

I'll hope the bug will be solved in a future kernel for the 12.04 LTS
version, because I will probably upgrade to the coming LTS version
(14.04 ?).

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1219789] Re: [Toshiba NB100-11J] 3.2.0-52-generic freezes

2013-09-06 Thread Gerard van Drielen
Yesterday evening I flashed the BIOS of my NB100-11J (thanks to a utility
called Rufus (http://rufus.akeo.ie/)).
It wasn't easy, I had to strip the flash utility (flashit.exe) and the new
ROM-image from iso and floppy images.

The BIOS was upgraded from version 1.20 to version 2.10.
(I could not find a newer version.)

Anyway, after reboot the system halted within the hour.
So the new BIOS had no affect.
Afterwards I rebooted from the previous kernel version.

The answer on your request :

gerard@NB100:~$ sudo dmidecode -s bios-version sudo dmidecode -s
bios-release-date
[sudo] password for gerard:
2.10
07/29/2009

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1219789] Re: [Toshiba NB100-11J] 3.2.0-52-generic freezes

2013-09-06 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Gerard van Drielen, could you please test the latest upstream kernel available
following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds ? It will allow
additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Please do not test the
daily folder, but the one all the way at the bottom. Once you've tested the
upstream kernel, please comment on which kernel version specifically you
tested. If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following
tags:
kernel-fixed-upstream
kernel-fixed-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER

where VERSION-NUMBER is the version number of the kernel you tested. For
example:
kernel-fixed-upstream-v3.11

This can be done by clicking on the yellow circle with a black pencil icon next
to the word Tags located at the bottom of the bug description. As well, please
remove the tag:
needs-upstream-testing

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the following tags:
kernel-bug-exists-upstream
kernel-bug-exists-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER

As well, please remove the tag:
needs-upstream-testing

Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug's
Status as Confirmed. Please let us know your results. Thank you for your
understanding.
