[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1219789] Re: [Toshiba NB100-11J] 3.2.0-52-generic freezes
I didn't upgrade my LTS version on my server. Instead I used a bootable USB stick with the ISO image on it. I tried the 'live' option for over an hour. No problems ! Allthough this test is somewhat compromised (not all of the software I use was loaded) I think the result is promising. What kernel is used by Saucy ? I'll hope the bug will be solved in a future kernel for the 12.04 LTS version, because I will probably upgrade to the coming LTS version (14.04 ?). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1219789 Title: [Toshiba NB100-11J] 3.2.0-52-generic freezes Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: I can confirm that kernel version 3.2.0-52-generic very often freezes after installing the latest updates. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1219789] Re: [Toshiba NB100-11J] 3.2.0-52-generic freezes
Yesterday evening I flashed the BIOS of my NB100-11J (thanks to a utility called Rufus (http://rufus.akeo.ie/)). It wasn't easy, I had to strip the flash utility (flashit.exe) and the new ROM-image from iso and floppy images. The BIOS was upgraded from version 1.20 to version 2.10. (I could not find a newer version.) Anyway, after reboot the system halted within the hour. So the new BIOS had no affect. Afterwards I rebooted from the previous kernel version. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1219789] Re: [Toshiba NB100-11J] 3.2.0-52-generic freezes
Gerard van Drielen, could you please test the latest upstream kernel available following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds ? It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Please do not test the daily folder, but the one all the way at the bottom. Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please comment on which kernel version specifically you tested. If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tags: kernel-fixed-upstream kernel-fixed-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER where VERSION-NUMBER is the version number of the kernel you tested. For example: kernel-fixed-upstream-v3.11 This can be done by clicking on the yellow circle with a black pencil icon next to the word Tags located at the bottom of the bug description. As well, please remove the tag: needs-upstream-testing If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the following tags: kernel-bug-exists-upstream kernel-bug-exists-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER As well, please remove the tag: needs-upstream-testing Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug's Status as Confirmed. Please let us know your results. Thank you for your understanding. ** Tags removed: bios-outdated-2.10 ** Tags added: latest-bios-2.10 ** Tags removed: needs-full-computer-model -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1219789 Title: [Toshiba NB100-11J] 3.2.0-52-generic freezes Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: I can confirm that kernel version 3.2.0-52-generic very often freezes after installing the latest updates.
