[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1242724] Re: Latest intel wifi firmware results in unstable wifi connection
Booting between kernels 3.8.0-31, 3.8.0-32 and 3.5.0-42, using linux- firmware 1.79.7, and I can't appear to reproduce the problem, so the ghost has obviously left my machine and moved on. I still see 5-10% of ping times in the 100's of ms, but that could be the general wireless environment or router, and nothing like the multi- second ping times I was seeing, nor the disconnects. If all seems in order for the rest of today (2013-10-29) I'll close the bug. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux-firmware in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1242724 Title: Latest intel wifi firmware results in unstable wifi connection Status in “linux-firmware” package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: Laptop is a Lenovo ThinkPad w530. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1242724] Re: Latest intel wifi firmware results in unstable wifi connection
Actually, it might be worth noting that the move from 1.79.6 -> 1.79.7 coincided with my installation of linux-generic-lts-raring, so perhaps the updated linux firmware is not compatible with the 3.8 raring kernel? I can confirm by the end of this week by booting back into my previous linux-generic-lts-quantal kernel, and re-applying linux-image 1.79.7.
Strange. From my apt history, I've been running >= 1.79.1 since first installation (mid-Feb). I've so far conclusively demonstrated the problem is isolated to linux- firmware, but I can't tell you which version exactly, because I can't find the intermediate updates. If you can point me at an historical archive wth versions 1.79.[146], I can try each in turn and verify for sure where the problem comes in.
