Vadim Peretokin, live environment would be fine for now. Please perform the requested apport-collect in it so necessary debugging information is provided. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1262525 Title: Heavy disk I/O harms desktop responsiveness and application performance Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Status in “linux-lowlatency” package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: Reporting per https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/131094/comments/398 ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 13.04 Package: linux-image-3.8.0-34-lowlatency 3.8.0-34.26 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.8.0-34.26-lowlatency 3.8.13.12 Uname: Linux 3.8.0-34-lowlatency i686 ApportVersion: 2.9.2-0ubuntu8.5 Architecture: i386 Date: Thu Dec 19 17:16:52 2013 InstallationDate: Installed on 2011-05-20 (944 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 11.04 "Natty Narwhal" - Release i386 (20110427.1) MarkForUpload: True ProcEnviron: TERM=xterm PATH=(custom, no user) XDG_RUNTIME_DIR= LANG=en_US.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash SourcePackage: linux-lowlatency UpgradeStatus: Upgraded to raring on 2013-05-05 (227 days ago) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1262525/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~kernel-packages Post to : kernel-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~kernel-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
Re: [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1262525] Re: Heavy disk I/O harms desktop responsiveness and application performance
No, I'm not going to be installing the development version of Ubuntu on this machine - unless this behaviour can be somehow confirmed from the Live USB. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1262525] Re: Heavy disk I/O harms desktop responsiveness and application performance
Vadim Peretokin, could you please confirm this issue exists with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ . If the issue remains, could you please run the following command in the development release from a Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal), as it will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report: apport-collect -p linux Also, could you please test the latest upstream kernel available (v3.13-rc3, not rc4 as it doesn't have all the necessary files) following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds ? It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue.Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please comment on which kernel version specifically you tested. If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tags: kernel-fixed-upstream kernel-fixed-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER where VERSION-NUMBER is the version number of the kernel you tested. For example: kernel-fixed-upstream-v3.13-rc4 This can be done by clicking on the yellow circle with a black pencil icon next to the word Tags located at the bottom of the bug description. As well, please remove the tag: needs-upstream-testing If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the following tags: kernel-bug-exists-upstream kernel-bug-exists-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER As well, please remove the tag: needs-upstream-testing Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug's Status as Confirmed. Please let us know your results. Thank you for your understanding. ** Also affects: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => Low ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1262525 Title: Heavy disk I/O harms desktop responsiveness and application performance Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Status in “linux-lowlatency” package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: Reporting per https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/131094/comments/398 ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 13.04 Package: linux-image-3.8.0-34-lowlatency 3.8.0-34.26 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.8.0-34.26-lowlatency 3.8.13.12 Uname: Linux 3.8.0-34-lowlatency i686 ApportVersion: 2.9.2-0ubuntu8.5 Architecture: i386 Date: Thu Dec 19 17:16:52 2013 InstallationDate: Installed on 2011-05-20 (944 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 11.04 "Natty Narwhal" - Release i386 (20110427.1) MarkForUpload: True ProcEnviron: TERM=xterm PATH=(custom, no user) XDG_RUNTIME_DIR= LANG=en_US.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash SourcePackage: linux-lowlatency UpgradeStatus: Upgraded to raring on 2013-05-05 (227 days ago) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1262525/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~kernel-packages Post to : kernel-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~kernel-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
