[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1307797] Re: [Dell Inspiron 14 3437] Kernel Panic

2014-05-06 Thread Tomi Mikkonen
I tried this fix from here:

http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2219493

> Re: Fails to boot after fresh 14.04 install

>I think Boot-Repair's advance mode does a chroot for its purge &
reinstall of grub. From that you probably can run other >commands also,
but I have not tried that.

>Many with upgrades are having to run this:
>sudo dpkg-reconfigure grub-pc
>#Enter thru first pages, spacebar to choose/unchoose drive, enter to
> accept, do not choose partitions

>But I agree that it seems more like initrd.img may not be correct
and needs recreating with update-initramfs, see man page for options.

but that workaround stopped working for me recently.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1307797] Re: [Dell Inspiron 14 3437] Kernel Panic

2014-04-23 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Jairo Serrano, DRM would indicate a graphics related issue. Despite
this, the next step is to fully commit bisect from 13.10 to 14.04 in
order to identify the offending commit. Could you please do this
following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/KernelBisection ?

David J Yost, thank you for your comment. So your hardware and problem may be
tracked, could you please file a new report with Ubuntu by executing the
following in a terminal while booted into a Ubuntu repository kernel (not a
mainline one) via:
ubuntu-bug linux

For more on this, please read the official Ubuntu documentation:
Ubuntu Bug Control and Ubuntu Bug Squad:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/BestPractices#X.2BAC8-Reporting.Focus_on_One_Issue
Ubuntu Kernel Team:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelTeam/KernelTeamBugPolicies#Filing_Kernel_Bug_reports
Ubuntu Community:
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#Bug_reporting_etiquette

When opening up the new report, please feel free to subscribe me to it.

Thank you for your understanding.
