[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1335463] Re: [Toshiba Satellite E55-A5114] ETPS/2 Elantech Touchpad not working on 14.04
I had a similar problem with my acer aspire one. Downloading and installing the latest manline kernel 4.1.1 did not help in detection. Then I found that newer kernel if Single is added as a boot parameter. Once it is detected the stock ubuntu kernel 3.16 also detected the touchpad on direct reboot. However on shutting down the laptop, the touchpad is not detected again. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1335463] Re: [Toshiba Satellite E55-A5114] ETPS/2 Elantech Touchpad not working on 14.04
Sorry for the typo. I meant the new mainline kernel is successfull in detecting the touchpad only if Single is given as a boot time parameter. Once detected, it remains detectable even by the 3.16 ubuntu kernel on reboot. But if I power off, it becomes not detectable again. I know I should file a fresh bug, but my laptop is offline, and i need to collect necessary log files to file a bug. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1335463 Title: [Toshiba Satellite E55-A5114] ETPS/2 Elantech Touchpad not working on 14.04 Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Triaged Bug description: Please, guide me on the way of providing valuable information for fixing this bug as my girlfriend is going to kill me for needing to use an external mouse. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1335463] Re: [Toshiba Satellite E55-A5114] ETPS/2 Elantech Touchpad not working on 14.04
Hugo Melo, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better. Could you please test the latest upstream kernel available from the very top line at the top of the page (not the daily folder) following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds ? It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please comment on which kernel version specifically you tested. If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tags: kernel-fixed-upstream kernel-fixed-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER where VERSION-NUMBER is the version number of the kernel you tested. For example: kernel-fixed-upstream-3.16-rc2 This can be done by clicking on the yellow circle with a black pencil icon next to the word Tags located at the bottom of the bug description. As well, please remove the tag: needs-upstream-testing If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the following tags: kernel-bug-exists-upstream kernel-bug-exists-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER As well, please remove the tag: needs-upstream-testing Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug's Status as Confirmed. Please let us know your results. Thank you for your understanding. ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided = High ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed = Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1335463 Title: [Toshiba Satellite E55-A5114] ETPS/2 Elantech Touchpad not working on 14.04 Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: Please, guide me on the way of providing valuable information for fixing this bug as my girlfriend is going to kill me for needing to use an external mouse.
