Robert Orzanna, as this report is closed, it has nothing to do with your
problem.

However, it will help immensely if you filed a new report with the Ubuntu
repository kernel via a terminal:

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1363577] Re: [Lenovo ThinkPad X230] Resume didn't start wifi card

2015-10-26 Thread Robert Orzanna
Dear all,

I'm affected by the same problem on a Thinkpad X230 using Ubuntu 15.10.

Occasionally I don't have a Wifi connection on resume from suspend and
fresh boot.

Switching Wifi on/off using the hardware switch doesn't solve the
problem.

I need to reboot my system to re-enable Wifi.

I would appreciate any help,

Robert

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1363577] Re: [Lenovo ThinkPad X230] Resume didn't start wifi card

2014-08-31 Thread Steve Sether
Thanks Christopher.

It still seems to me that Ubuntu should simply remove all unsupported
PPAs as a matter of maintaining stability. I don't recall installing
Jupiter a year ago, but I suppose I must have at some point.

At the very least it'd be nice to have the option of simply doing a
fresh install and removing any packages that don't have support in the
current release. Formatting the partition and over-writing everything
is something I generally avoid since I like to have local files on my
machine stick around.

Any idea how I can raise this issue with someone?

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1363577] Re: [Lenovo ThinkPad X230] Resume didn't start wifi card

2014-08-31 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Steve Sether, one is advised to not have 3rd party packages installed
during an upgrade as per the official documentation
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/UpgradeNotes .

If jupiter is a 3rd party package/PPA, it's not supported in any way,
for upgrading, auto-removal, etc.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1363577] Re: [Lenovo ThinkPad X230] Resume didn't start wifi card

2014-08-31 Thread Steve Sether
Jupter seems to be no longer maintained, but yet it wasn't removed when
I upgraded. Christopher, do you know how I'd go about contacting
someone so this package is automatically removed when a user upgrades
from 12.04 to 14.04? It's caused quite a few people quite a lot of
headaches, and hasn't been maintained for 4+ years.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1363577] Re: [Lenovo ThinkPad X230] Resume didn't start wifi card

2014-08-31 Thread Steve Sether
After further testing, I still had the same bug under my original 12.04
PP kernel. I then discovered everything worked fine when I close the
laptop without being logged in. That meant a userland program was
responsible likely involved. I removed a program (I believed installed
be default) called Jupiter, and there are no more suspend/resume
problems.

This seems to be a common bug:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1286552

I'll chase down Jupiter and see if I can get them to fix whatever
nonsense they've created.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1363577] Re: [Lenovo ThinkPad X230] Resume didn't start wifi card

2014-08-31 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Steve Sether, the next step is to fully commit bisect the kernel in
order to identify the offending commit. Could you please do this
following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/KernelBisection ?
