[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1375022] Re: [1005HA, Realtek ALC269, Speaker, Internal] Pulseaudio fails to detect card
A weird thing happened today on my last reboot of the PC. I installed unetbootin and gparted through apt-get and some updates may have gotten installed as well at the same time prior to the reboot. When the desktop was ready I went to the sound settings and suddenly the card was listed. aplay now shows the card as well. From apt history the only package I can see that's possibly related would be libaudio2:i386. ~$ aplay -l List of PLAYBACK Hardware Devices card 0: Intel [HDA Intel], device 0: ALC269 Analog [ALC269 Analog] Subdevices: 1/1 Subdevice #0: subdevice #0 ~$ uname -r 3.17.0-031700-generic ~$ less /var/log/apt/history.log Start-Date: 2014-10-08 21:24:49 Commandline: apt-get install unetbootin Install: libqtcore4:i386 (4.8.6+git49-gbc62005+dfsg-1ubuntu1, automatic), qtcore4-l10n:i386 (4.8.6+git49-gbc62005+dfsg-1ubuntu1, automatic), syslinux-common:i386 (6.03~pre18+dfsg-1, automatic), unetbootin-translations:i386 (603-1, automatic), extlinux:i386 (6.03~pre18+dfsg-1, automatic), libqtdbus4:i386 (4.8.6+git49-gbc62005+dfsg-1ubuntu1, automatic), mtools:i386 (4.0.18-1ubuntu1, automatic), unetbootin:i386 (603-1), p7zip-full:i386 (9.20.1~dfsg.1-4.1, automatic), libqt4-network:i386 (4.8.6+git49-gbc62005+dfsg-1ubuntu1, automatic), libgtop2-10:i386 (2.30.0.is.2.30.0-0ubuntu1, automatic), libqt4-script:i386 (4.8.6+git49-gbc62005+dfsg-1ubuntu1, automatic), libqt4-sql-mysql:i386 (4.8.6+git49-gbc62005+dfsg-1ubuntu1, automatic), libgtop2-common:i386 (2.30.0.is.2.30.0-0ubuntu1, automatic), libqt4-xmlpatterns:i386 (4.8.6+git49-gbc62005+dfsg-1ubuntu1, automatic), mysql-common:i386 (5.5.39-0ubuntu4, automatic), libqtgui4:i386 (4.8.6+git49-gbc62005+dfsg-1ubuntu1, automatic), libmysqlclient18:i386 (5.5.39-0ubuntu4, automatic), libqt4-declarative:i386 (4.8.6+git49-gbc62005+dfsg-1ubuntu1, automatic), libgksu2-0:i386 (2.0.13~pre1-6ubuntu7, automatic), libaudio2:i386 (1.9.4-1, automatic), libqt4-xml:i386 (4.8.6+git49-gbc62005+dfsg-1ubuntu1, automatic), libqt4-sql:i386 (4.8.6+git49-gbc62005+dfsg-1ubuntu1, automatic), syslinux:i386 (6.03~pre18+dfsg-1, automatic), gksu:i386 (2.0.2-6ubuntu2, automatic) End-Date: 2014-10-08 21:26:06 Start-Date: 2014-10-08 21:26:17 Commandline: apt-get install gparted Install: gparted:i386 (0.19.0-1build1) End-Date: 2014-10-08 21:26:32 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1375022 Title: [1005HA, Realtek ALC269, Speaker, Internal] Pulseaudio fails to detect card Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: No sound ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 14.10 Package: pulseaudio 1:4.0-0ubuntu20 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.16.0-17.23-generic 3.16.3 Uname: Linux 3.16.0-17-generic i686 ApportVersion: 2.14.7-0ubuntu2 Architecture: i386 AudioDevicesInUse: Error: command ['fuser', '-v', '/dev/snd/by-path', '/dev/snd/hwC0D0', '/dev/snd/controlC0', '/dev/snd/seq', '/dev/snd/timer'] failed with exit code 1: CurrentDesktop: XFCE Date: Sun Sep 28 20:12:08 2014 InstallationDate: Installed on 2014-09-28 (0 days ago) InstallationMedia: Xubuntu 14.10 Utopic Unicorn - Alpha i386 (20140923) SourcePackage: pulseaudio Symptom: audio Symptom_Card: HDA-Intel - HDA Intel Symptom_Jack: Speaker, Internal Title: [1005HA, Realtek ALC269, Speaker, Internal] Pulseaudio fails to detect card UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) dmi.bios.date: 04/18/2011 dmi.bios.vendor: American Megatrends Inc. dmi.bios.version: 1601 dmi.board.asset.tag: To Be Filled By O.E.M. dmi.board.name: 1005HA dmi.board.vendor: ASUSTeK Computer INC. dmi.board.version: x.xx dmi.chassis.asset.tag: 0x dmi.chassis.type: 10 dmi.chassis.vendor: ASUSTeK Computer INC. dmi.chassis.version: x.x dmi.modalias: dmi:bvnAmericanMegatrendsInc.:bvr1601:bd04/18/2011:svnASUSTeKComputerINC.:pn1005HA:pvrx.x:rvnASUSTeKComputerINC.:rn1005HA:rvrx.xx:cvnASUSTeKComputerINC.:ct10:cvrx.x: dmi.product.name: 1005HA dmi.product.version: x.x dmi.sys.vendor: ASUSTeK Computer INC. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1375022] Re: [1005HA, Realtek ALC269, Speaker, Internal] Pulseaudio fails to detect card
This issue appears to be an upstream bug, since you tested the latest upstream kernel. Would it be possible for you to open an upstream bug report[0]? That will allow the upstream Developers to examine the issue, and may provide a quicker resolution to the bug. Please follow the instructions on the wiki page[0]. The first step is to email the appropriate mailing list. If no response is received, then a bug may be opened on bugzilla.kernel.org. Once this bug is reported upstream, please add the tag: 'kernel-bug- reported-upstream'. Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest v3.17 kernel[0]. If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'. If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag: 'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'. If you are unable to test the mainline kernel, for example it will not boot, please add the tag: 'kernel-unable-to-test-upstream'. Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as Confirmed. Thanks in advance.
