[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1376581] Re: DisplayPort monitor not properly detected via HP ultraslim docking station 2013
Elitebook 840 G1 here with HP 2013 UltraSlim-Docking Station. I was able to connect and recognize the monitor via Docking Station, however the graphics are flickering and mouse seems to freeze when moving fast. Also there are problems when dragging windows to the sides of the screen for resizing - windows keep jumping to other screens, instead of sticking to the needed one. On the other monitor, which is connected via DP of the laptop, everything works fine. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1376581 Title: DisplayPort monitor not properly detected via HP ultraslim docking station 2013 Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: DisplayPort monitor not properly detected via HP ultraslim docking station 2013 My configuration: - Ubuntu 14.04, with all updates (3.13.0-36.63-generic 3.13.11.6) - EliteBook 850 G1 connected to a HP ultraslim docking station 2013. - 1 Dell 2209WA connected to the VGA port of the docking - 1 Dell P2414H connected to the DP of the docking Currently I have the lateste fglrx (14.301.1001), but if was the same with the version from Ubuntu repo. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1376581] Re: DisplayPort monitor not properly detected via HP ultraslim docking station 2013
I have the same issue. My configuration: - Ubuntu 14.04, with all updates (Ubuntu 3.13.0-37.64-generic 3.13.11.7) - EliteBook 840 G1 connected to a HP ultraslim docking station 2013. - 1 Acer B273HU connected to the DP of the docking FGLRX: linux-amd-catalyst-14.6-beta-v1.0-jul11.zip: fglrx-14.20 (I had to install the following packages: sudo apt-get install dh-modaliases execstack dkms lib32gcc1 build-essential xserver-xorg-dev Before I could then finally build the package: ~/Downloads/fglrx-14.20$ sudo ./amd-driver-installer-14.20-x86.x86_64.run --buildpkg Ubuntu/trusty And install it: ~/Downloads/fglrx-14.20$ sudo dpkg -i fglrx_*.deb fglrx-amdcccle_*.deb ) When connecting the monitor to the DP of the Laptop everything works fine. When connecting the monitor to the DP of the Docking Station nothing happens. One more thing to mention is that when using the official driver: Using X.Org X server - AMD/ATI display driver wrapper from xserver-xorg-video-ati (open source, tested) Then the DP of the docking station works fine (but the rendering on the external monitor is ugly: tearing, artifacts, etc.) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1376581 Title: DisplayPort monitor not properly detected via HP ultraslim docking station 2013 Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: DisplayPort monitor not properly detected via HP ultraslim docking station 2013 My configuration: - Ubuntu 14.04, with all updates (3.13.0-36.63-generic 3.13.11.6) - EliteBook 850 G1 connected to a HP ultraslim docking station 2013.
In addition to the internal DP the VGA Port of Docking Station works as well fine (so finally only the 2 DPs of the Docking Station don't work). Connecting my monitor the the VGA Port of the Docking Station is for me an acceptable work-around until AMD (or HP) have fixed this issue. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1376581 Title: DisplayPort monitor not properly detected via HP ultraslim docking station 2013 Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: DisplayPort monitor not properly detected via HP ultraslim docking station 2013 My configuration: - Ubuntu 14.04, with all updates (3.13.0-36.63-generic 3.13.11.6) - EliteBook 850 G1 connected to a HP ultraslim docking station 2013.
Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest v3.17 kernel[0]. If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'. If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag: 'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'. If you are unable to test the mainline kernel, for example it will not boot, please add the tag: 'kernel-unable-to-test-upstream'. Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as Confirmed. Thanks in advance.
