Seems to be fixed in the 16.04 (Xenial Xerus) Beta 1. I assume the fix
will make its way through the final release.

Hooray! :)

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1376581] Re: DisplayPort monitor not properly detected via HP ultraslim docking station 2013

2016-02-22 Thread Arne
Seems to be solved with the LTSEnablementStack in 14.04.4.
I'm using kernel 4.2.0-27-generic
and X and Mesa from lts-wily.

For how to upgrade see:
https://wiki.ubuntuusers.de/LTS_Enablement_Stacks/

Works for my Folio 9480m in HP 2013 UltraSlim-Docking Station

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1376581] Re: DisplayPort monitor not properly detected via HP ultraslim docking station 2013

2016-02-05 Thread Gytis Semenas
Elitebook 840 G1 here with HP 2013 UltraSlim-Docking Station.

I was able to connect and recognize the monitor via Docking Station,
however the graphics are flickering and mouse seems to freeze when
moving fast.

Also there are problems when dragging windows to the sides of the screen
for resizing - windows keep jumping to other screens, instead of
sticking to the needed one.

On the other monitor, which is connected via DP of the laptop,
everything works fine.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1376581] Re: DisplayPort monitor not properly detected via HP ultraslim docking station 2013

2014-10-27 Thread andrea
Hi all,
as suggested, I tried to install the latest v3.17 kernel[0] in Ubuntu 14.10.

Hardware:
elitebook 840
hp ultraslim docking station 2013

Software Ubuntu 14.10
- with both the default kernel and the 3.17
- without using AMD drivers
- installing the drivers available in the Additional Drivers tool (fglrx)
- installing the drivers downloaded from the AMD website

In the best situation, the external monitors are not rightly recognized
(just 1 monitor with a lower resolution) but the screen is always off.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1376581] Re: DisplayPort monitor not properly detected via HP ultraslim docking station 2013

2014-10-24 Thread safouan
I have the same issue.

My configuration:
- Ubuntu 14.04, with all updates
- EliteBook 840 G1 connected to a HP ultraslim docking station 2013.
- 1 HP z27i connected to the DP of the docking
- xserver-xorg-video-ati

When connecting the monitor to the DP of the Laptop everything works fine.
When connecting the monitor to the DP of the Docking Station, it is very ugly:
tearing, artifacts, etc.

please help

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1376581] Re: DisplayPort monitor not properly detected via HP ultraslim docking station 2013

2014-10-21 Thread R. Becke
I have the same issue.
My configuration:
- Ubuntu 14.04, with all updates (Ubuntu 3.13.0-37.64-generic 3.13.11.7)
- EliteBook 840 G1 connected to a HP ultraslim docking station 2013.
- 1 Acer B273HU connected to the DP of the docking

FGLRX: linux-amd-catalyst-14.6-beta-v1.0-jul11.zip: fglrx-14.20
(I had to install the following packages:
sudo apt-get install dh-modaliases execstack dkms lib32gcc1 build-essential
xserver-xorg-dev
Before I could then finally build the package:
~/Downloads/fglrx-14.20$ sudo ./amd-driver-installer-14.20-x86.x86_64.run
--buildpkg Ubuntu/trusty
And install it:
~/Downloads/fglrx-14.20$ sudo dpkg -i fglrx_*.deb fglrx-amdcccle_*.deb
)

When connecting the monitor to the DP of the Laptop everything works fine.
When connecting the monitor to the DP of the Docking Station nothing happens.

One more thing to mention is that when using the official driver: Using X.Org
X server - AMD/ATI display driver wrapper from xserver-xorg-video-ati (open
source, tested)
Then the DP of the docking station works fine (but the rendering on the
external monitor is ugly: tearing, artifacts, etc.)

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1376581] Re: DisplayPort monitor not properly detected via HP ultraslim docking station 2013

2014-10-21 Thread R. Becke
In addition to the internal DP the VGA Port of Docking Station works as well
fine (so finally only the 2 DPs of the Docking Station don't work).
Connecting my monitor the the VGA Port of the Docking Station is for me an
acceptable work-around until AMD (or HP) have fixed this issue.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1376581] Re: DisplayPort monitor not properly detected via HP ultraslim docking station 2013

2014-10-02 Thread Joseph Salisbury
Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer
to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest
v3.17 kernel[0].

If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following
tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'.

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag:
'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'.

If you are unable to test the mainline kernel, for example it will not boot,
please add the tag: 'kernel-unable-to-test-upstream'.
Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as
Confirmed.

Thanks in advance.
