Title:
USB devices not working since upgrading to kernel 3.13.0-48-generic
  from 3.13.0-46-generic

Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
  Expired

Bug description:
  # lsb_release -rd
  Description: Ubuntu 12.04.5 LTS
  Release: 12.04
  (I'm running trusty HWE).

USB2 and USB3 ports are not working with kernel 3.13.0-48-generic.
When I boot on previous kernel (3.13.0-46-generic), USB ports work.

If I unplug USB devices before booting and I connect USB devices
(keyboard, mouse) after boot is completed, USB devices are working.
If I reboot again with the devices plugged while booting, USB stops
  working again.

  Tried different keyboards and mices.

  dmesg output on kernel 3.13.0-48-generic:

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1437004] Re: USB devices not working since upgrading to kernel 3.13.0-48-generic from 3.13.0-46-generic

2016-01-25 Thread Vagner
I have the same Dell Inspiron 3647 SFF and I am experiencing the same
issue, although I have updated the BIOS and running kernel 3.13.0-76. Do
you need more information?

2016-01-01 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Francis, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better.

As per http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/19/product-
support/product/inspiron-3647-small-desktop/drivers/advanced an update
to your computer's buggy and outdated BIOS is available (A08). If you
update to this following https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BIOSUpdate
does it change anything?

For more on BIOS updates and linux, please see
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#Bug_reporting_etiquette
.

Please note your current BIOS is already in the Bug Description, so
posting this on the old BIOS would not be helpful. As well, you don't
have to create a new bug report.

Once the BIOS is updated, if the problem is still reproducible:
1) Please provide the output of the following terminal command (not perform an
apport-collect):
sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date
2) Please make a comment specifically advising on if there was an improvement
or not.
3) Please mark this report Status Confirmed. If it's not reproducible, please
mark this as Invalid.

Thank you for your understanding.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1437004] Re: USB devices not working since upgrading to kernel 3.13.0-48-generic from 3.13.0-46-generic

2015-04-09 Thread François
Also affected by those new kernels (3.13.0-48 and 49)

Usb disks listed with lsusb but no automount or manual mount available.

Back to kernel 46 and update-grub after deleting 48 and 49 to boot
directly on working kernel.

Bug description:
  # lsb_release -rd
  Description: Ubuntu 12.04.5 LTS

USB2 and USB3 ports are not working with kernel 3.13.0-48-generic.
When I boot on previous kernel (3.13.0-46-generic), USB ports work.

If I unplug USB devices before booting and I connect USB devices

  Tried different keyboards and mices.
