[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1552938] Re: Keyboard not working on boot and stop job taking forever
I tested with the 1.2.3 BIOS too, but no change. What did make a difference was the new 4.4.0-11-generic kernel. Now the boot seems to work just fine, keyboard is working again and the input box for the decryption password works again. There is however(on boot) a purple screen for a couple of seconds before it turns black and reappears with the input box for the decryption password, but that might be normal. The shutdown now seems to work every now and then. Sometimes it shuts down quickly but other times it hangs for a long time after "[ OK ] Stopped Thermal Daemon Service", I'm not sure what it's waiting for, so something seems to be wrong there. Should I mark this bug as fixed and create a new one as the problem has changed with the latest kernel? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1552938 Title: Keyboard not working on boot and stop job taking forever Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: When using the 4.4.0-9-generic the splash screen that asks for my encryption password don't register any keypresses. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1552938] Re: Keyboard not working on boot and stop job taking forever
Alex, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better. As per http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/19/product- support/product/xps-13-9350-laptop/drivers?os=biosa an update to your computer's buggy, insecure, and outdated BIOS is available (1.2.3). If you update to this following https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BIOSUpdate does it change anything? For more on BIOS updates and linux, please see https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#Bug_reporting_etiquette . Please note your current BIOS is already in the Bug Description, so posting this on the old BIOS would not be helpful. Also, you don't have to create a new bug report. Once the BIOS is updated, if the problem is still reproducible: 1) Please provide the output of the following terminal command (not perform an apport-collect): sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date 2) Please make a comment specifically advising on if there was an improvement or not. 3) Please mark this report Status Confirmed. If it's not reproducible, please mark this as Invalid. Thank you for your understanding. ** Tags added: bios-outdated-1.2.3 ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Critical => Low ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1552938 Title: Keyboard not working on boot and stop job taking forever Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: When using the 4.4.0-9-generic the splash screen that asks for my encryption password don't register any keypresses.
