Bug description:
This is a feature request for Ubuntu 16.10:

Optimized kprobes support for powerpc :
This feauture aims to enhance the performance of kprobes. Currently, whenever
a probe is placed in the kernel using the kprobes infrastructure, it places a
trap instruction at that place. This feature will replace the trap with a
branch thereby reducing the probe overhead drastically.

Patches to enable this are being sent :
  https://lkml.org/lkml/2016/5/17/513

The latest version has been posted here:
https://marc.info/?l=linuxppc-embedded=148215354725740=2

It has been acked by the Kprobes maintainer and is awaiting powerpc
maintainer review. We expect this to land in kernel v4.11.

Please update this feature with the outstanding actions needed for this to be
ready for 17.04.
Gery - this is status that needs to be reflected in the weekly UPM meeting.
