[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1687397] Re: Kernel freeze when plugging in external monitor via USB-C->DP-Adapter

2020-07-04 Thread Andrew
My experience is on a dell precision which is pretty much the same as the XPS
series.
Pulling the USB-C out quickly and re inserting can hang the computer.
Using 20.04.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1687397] Re: Kernel freeze when plugging in external monitor via USB-C->DP-Adapter

2018-03-08 Thread Bob Merhebi
It seems this is the same bug for Dell XPS 15 as well. Not always, but
sometimes this happens either using the DA200 adapter (Type-C usb) or
direct HDMI. However, a related bug has been fixed (black screen)* so I
will report back if this still happens on the Dell XPS 15.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1687397] Re: Kernel freeze when plugging in external monitor via USB-C->DP-Adapter

2017-05-03 Thread Eiko
Thanks for the helpful link. I tested the kernel v4.11 and this fixes the
issue. Now, the Display is also running at 60 Hz (not 30 as it was before).
There are still some minor errors in kernel.log when plugging In/Out but
everything seems to work.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1687397] Re: Kernel freeze when plugging in external monitor via USB-C->DP-Adapter

2017-05-01 Thread Joseph Salisbury
Did this issue start happening after an update/upgrade? Was there a
prior kernel version where you were not having this particular problem?

Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer
to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest
v4.11 kernel[0].

If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following
tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'.

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag:
'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'.

Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as
"Confirmed".

Thanks in advance.
