[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1690817] Re: Believe boot partition became filled

2017-07-01 Thread spike speigel
Not sure if using dkms, but if so may be related to bug 1515513

Title:
  Believe boot partition became filled

Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
I think this problem has something to do with either insufficient
space in the /boot partition or some (improper) memory the system is
keeping of its prior kernels. But I haven't time right now to try all
  of the advice below.

I'm interested in getting back into this, so I'd like a way to get
back to you. I've copied the URL above
  (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+filebug/cce3887e-3971-11e7
-b34a-002481e7f48a) but am not sure how I can return to this point to
gather all of the info you might need.

On a more general note, I'm running 14.04 now. Is it possible to
directly *update* to 16.04 without intermediate steps, like 14.04 ->
14.06 -> ...-> 16.04. In my opinion your documentation is not as
clear about this matter as it could and should be.

  But without becoming too critical,
  I'll leave it now.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1690817] Re: Believe boot partition became filled

2017-06-06 Thread hjpollock
Can you interpret the comment: This change was made by a bot. I don't
know what you mean. Does "This change" refer to the bug report or to
something else? I suppose 'bot' refers to some automatic software
program, but I don't know.

Some translation into common English would be appreciated, by me, if not
by anyone else.

Thanks,
Jim Pollock
