Title:
Kernel 4.15 fails to load nvidia module

Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
Booting into kernel 4.15 results in no graphics acceleration. No
  nvidia module is loaded.

Manually loading the module results in:
  me@mysys /home/me $ sudo modprobe nvidia
  modprobe: ERROR: ../libkmod/libkmod-module.c:832 kmod_module_insert_module()
could not find module by name='nvidia_384'
modprobe: ERROR: could not insert 'nvidia_384': Unknown symbol in module, or
unknown parameter (see dmesg)
  me@mysys /home/me $

The weird thing: there is nothing in dmesg and nothing in syslog.
Reboot with kernel 4.13.0-43 (or older) and everything works again.

  me@mysys ~ $ uname -a
  Linux sesta10 4.13.0-43-generic #48~16.04.1-Ubuntu SMP Thu May 17 12:56:46
UTC 2018 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
  me@mysys ~ $ lsb_release -a
  LSB Version:
core-9.20160110ubuntu0.2-amd64:core-9.20160110ubuntu0.2-noarch:security-9.20160110ubuntu0.2-amd64:security-9.20160110ubuntu0.2-noarch
  Distributor ID: LinuxMint
  Description: Linux Mint 18.3 Sylvia
  Release: 18.3
  Codename: sylvia
  me@mysys ~ $

Please advise how to give more useful informations - I tried "ubuntu-
bug linux" and "ubuntu-bug linux-image-4.15.0-29-generic" in the
faulty state (on the CLI of kernel 4.15), but it told me that this is
  no linux package.. ?
