[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1807378] Re: zfs/spl build in conjunction with the kernel from DKMS source
This broke my ability to build the Xenial HWE kernel offline using the default kernel configuration (trying to build binary-lowlatency specifically). Building a package shouldn't require me to have an internet connection. I am also concerned about complying with the CDDL license since the ZFS source code is no longer part of the linux-source package. Is something being done to properly point to the source code of the modules? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux-gcp in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1807378 Title: zfs/spl build in conjunction with the kernel from DKMS source Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Status in linux-gcp package in Ubuntu: Fix Committed Status in linux source package in Bionic: Fix Committed Status in linux-gcp source package in Bionic: Fix Committed Bug description: We currently carry a complete copy of the zfs/spl source in the kernel package. It would be much simpler to maintain if we used the published sources for the dkms package to build these at kernel build time. We are still able to sign those modules into the kernel modules key. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1807378] Re: zfs/spl build in conjunction with the kernel from DKMS source
This bug is awaiting verification that the kernel in -proposed solves the problem. Please test the kernel and update this bug with the results. If the problem is solved, change the tag 'verification-needed- xenial' to 'verification-done-xenial'. If the problem still exists, change the tag 'verification-needed-xenial' to 'verification-failed- xenial'. If verification is not done by 5 working days from today, this fix will be dropped from the source code, and this bug will be closed. See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to enable and use -proposed.
