[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1813543] Re: Freeze after update from 4.15.0.43 to 4.15.0.44

2019-01-30 Thread supremesyntax
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1813663 ***

Ubuntu 18.04.1 LTS
Linux XXX 4.15.0-43-generic #46-Ubuntu SMP Thu Dec 6 14:45:28 UTC 2018 x86_64
x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

I can't log in to a wayland or xorg session at gdm3 screen with kernel 4.15.0-44
Just a black screen. I can't even switch to another tty. Full system hang.

Maybe this is related. Seems to be a kernel driver module problem.

I am on a Thinkpad T460p with intel/nvidia graphics stack using nouveau.

VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation HD Graphics 530 (rev 06)
3D controller: NVIDIA Corporation GM108M [GeForce 940MX] (rev a2)

Booting the previous 4.15.0-43 is just fine.

Title:
Freeze after update from 4.15.0.43 to 4.15.0.44

Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  Hello,

I'm running Lubuntu 18.04.1 on a Dell Latitude 7490 and the
  Dockingstation TB16.

After the last system upgrade on Friday, the system is freezing
directly when I activate the settings in ARandR. It also freeze
sporadically even if I don't use ARandR.

Currently I'm running Lubuntu (and writing this issue) with the older
kernel (4.15.0.43) selected in GRUB without any problems.

In the attachment is a abstract of the /var/log/apt/history.log.

I hope someone can help me with this problem.

  Kind regards,
  K1LLUM1N471
